      Yuppidiyupp\" post_id=\"2090929\" time=\"1669718024\" user_id=\"197060:

      If a subject is removed,
A few reasons why school chooses to do so,
Not enough students to form a class/
      Students enrolment is dwindling/
Tkgs Econs result is not ideal.

From TKGS 2021 results, can guess the reason why.
not sure about the 2021 results ,but the 2022 ones were in my opinion, rather good
As far as I’ve heard, many juniors have expressed their interest in econs, demand for it should be there.for this current sec 4 batch, geography was removed (if I didn’t remember wrongly)and many switched to taking econs instead so there were 2 econs classes and about 80 students (I think).and then for 2022 sec 4 batch, two econs classes but like 40+ students, either way,I think not enough students wouldn’t be the reason…
2022 econs results was 100% passes and 97% distinction ,I believe that is considered an ideal result …

so hmmm… removing the subject entirely was something really really weird to me…like there were no warnings in advance (I couldn’t tell the demand was dropping, couldn’t tell that the students were performing poorly)
and well, the econs teacher left at the end of 2022,didn’t even finish teaching the 2023 sec 4 batch .. it just seemed really fishy 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️But well, time will tell us if it was a good decision or not

2022 student who took econs here…

as far as i know, triple science students were never offered any core subject right from the start, and econs being a core subject would not have been offered to any triple science student

and uhh… i personally thought it was kinda weird that last econs batch would be the 2023 sec 4 batch because my econs teacher, who taught econs from 2020 onwards (i believe),left last year, without finishing the teaching of the last econs batch (2023 sec 4)… so basically these students would have been taught one year by her and then have their crucial year be taught by a relief teacher I believe …
Interestingly enough, the economics results produced by the o level batch has been good ever since that teacher took over, econs wasn’t just a special subject to tkgs,it was also a subject whereby the students could perform rather well in. 100% passes and >95% distinction rate as far as I know…
Also, from what I’ve heard, the sec 2 batches have always had a rather high demand for econs as a subject,it’s a rather popular subject in the school, with many juniors always expressing their interest in it … i highly doubt that the subject is being removed due to lack of demand

Well, the removal of it was a sad thing because I thought it was actually really beneficial ,very useful and I would have loved for tkgs to remain as one of the 4 schools offering the subject in Singapore .(also because the removal seemed weird and sudden to me) but hmm,I guess to the decision makers … removing it was simply the better choice so okie then… too bad we wouldn’t have more juniors in econs …
