Hi, I am new in this forum. Heard that I can get some advice from expert here.

My ds got 249+1, we stayed at west. Looking at the COP, she is at the border line to get into IP. Any advice on the choice of school?

Our selection
1.RV 2.NH 3.ACS 4.BP 5.FH 6.CT
Above selection ok? In fact we worried he is at bolder line for IP, will it be too stress for him? TQ

if u r worried abt stress, then RV might not be suitable. Becos i heard tat RV has weekly and/or fortnightly tests for various subjects.

Is it weekly or fortnightly??? I was told it's every 3 weeks or once a month.

Hi,

May I check what the school hours are for Qifa? Are there any changes in timing for next year?

Thanks!
The school reporting time will be at 7.40am and dismissal will be at 1.30pm for all school days.

Friction between sofa and floor

if DD rmember correctly, its not friction. its due to gravity..

Gravity is unless he's lifting the sofa. The qn is pushing sofa, so it's frictional force.
Actually.. what's the exact qn? Hehehe .. my DD nvr tell me in detail cos too eager to go out with friends to celebrate

Friction between sofa and floor

if DD rmember correctly, its not friction. its due to gravity..
My DD also said the same. It's gravity. Cos only changing factor is the added weight. The rest are the same. Friction changes only when there is a change in surface.,ie, rougher or smoother.

I believe the score that qualifies for EESIS is different every year. Cos itโ€™s actually the top few % of the cohort who qualify. Am I right to say that?

I have friends whose kids received CO fr schools who are discussing non stop on answers not because they wanna prove anything. More becos they wanna know how their kids did so that they can think about accepting or rejecting the CO.

Err... if they thinking of using the right / wrong to guesstimate how well the child did, they are doing it all wrong.

This year is still operating in a t-score environment. If your answer is wrong, and 90% of the folks are going to end up wrong with you (which unfortunately, a random sampling of a small number of folks / parents are not going to be meaningful in telling), you will actually do ok due to the mean, SD and all that jazz.

Yah.. tried explaining to them about the bell curve effect. I guess ultimately they still wanna enter the schools without any DSA commitments if possible. I wouldn't say that they have no concerns about accepting the CO. Cos some DSA commitments can be quite tiring.
Anyway, just look forward to the next two papers. As predicted by my DD, it's going to be tough based on her observation from the Eng and Math papers. Hahaha. She's not giving up though. Instead she is going to work harder so that she will not fare too badly.
Jia you everyone!!

for those KSPs who have older children or relatives that graduated fr SOTA, do u think SOTA (IB) graduates are somewhat disadvantaged in applying to local universities, compared to students fr traditional powerhouses like nygh-hci?
Dun worry about SOTA graduates. I have students who graduated fr theatre studies who have gone to NUS-Yale and prestigious colleges in UK n US.
