May I ask how late do your girls sleep every night ? When my dd was in year 1, her sleeping time was constantly a subject of disagreement between us. I always wonder what percentage of her sleeping late habit is due to RGS culture and what percentage is owing to their teenage years ( some say teenage brains are not structured to sleep early??!!)

being a senior (Year 4) myself, I just wanted to say that... my batches' impression of the Year 1s is not exactly good, but we're hoping that they will mature over time!

I guess the RGS experience really allows you to learn a lot, and to mature and hopefully your DDs will experience the same thing.

I don't think this was the case of just Drama, many of my friends have various complaints towards the attitude of the Year 1s such as that they are overly demanding and \"act like the queen of the school\" and talk back quite a bit, just to give a rough idea of what we feel. We understand that we are not supposed to exert authority or \"bully\" the Year 1s based on our seniority, but really what we are asking for is just basic human respect, because people do make mistakes- there are communication breakdowns, and most of all, please just don't assume everyone owes you a living.

With regards to CCA- hope all your DDs can get into their desired CCAs, but if they can't, please ask them to go into their \"assigned\" CCA with an open mind alright! I can say that I definitely wasn't assigned into an ideal CCA, but over time still I grew to love it and I have no regrets now I know that may people do not want to join UGs but that is really where the bulk of learning takes place so yea some food for thought~

I think this year's year 1s are quite different from my batch, in a way. My batch was more...laid back and adventurous. More daring. This year, however, the year 1s are more hesitant to do things. This is not really something bad, but what i feel is that the yr 1s are slightly more reliant this year? Our batch generally does things our way, we have our own 'style' of doing things, but the year 1s this year are restricting themselves to little things.

I know this won't apply to everyone, but in general, year 1s are too scared. Even if you say it's the start of the year, it has already been a month, adjusting should already kick in.

As in, the year 1s need to learn to experience themselves, and not solely rely on instructions and such things to keep them going. It's no longer in primary school where you have to ask for permission to even drink water. Some trivial decisions can definitely be made yourself Making sure of something is definitely good, but being too sure sometimes limits one to their boundaries in thinking. Year 1s need to understand that we are no longer little kids, we are supposed to know what is important and what is not. Asking stuff like where do write the date/do i need to underline the date in your science journals is a little unnecessary i guess?

Oh, and the year 1s are somehow less welcoming, i feel. Last year, whenever our sec 2 seniors dropped by our class we would all be very happy and like chat/talk/run around/etc with them. But this year, whenever me and my friends go to our sec 1 class, it's the usual few enthu people welcoming us. The rest are like buried in their phones/books/work/whatever, and don't even bother to lift up their heads to say hi or something, even from the 1st row they just ignore us totally. Sometimes it's quite disappointing and disheartening

My batch was more opinionated, i would say.

Year 1s need to understand that nobody will tell them what to do as the year goes on. Nobody will be there to give you instructions forever.

Yeah that's pretty much all i wanted to say. I trust that the year 1s will mature as the year goes on:)

Would like to check if year 1 mommies /daddies here have decided on the purchase of MacBook? If so, getting from sapura? We are also thinking of getting from sapura ..... But looking at the apple guard insurance, seems like not very beneficial to get the insurance. It doesn't cover a lot of things... Seems like gray area, like eg theft is covered but negligence is not covered.... Hoes to differentiate if lost is due to theft or negligence? Also, there is this excess amount eg any amount below $200, will not be covered, etc... Just wondering if it is really necessary to buy the insurance then? Also, should the vendor goes burst within the next 4 years, warranty for the 4th year who will cover as apple only covers for the first 3 years?

Not sure about Sapura, but another Apple shop I checked with says you need to prove that your macbook was stolen. If it was stolen in a caefe, it will be viewed as negligence.

We will buy the MacBook Air from Sapura, but not with the insurance. It's a co-pay plan, meaning you have to pay a quite substantial amount especially on the Year 3&4.
