may I please know whether children should join GEP and why? :?:

If your child offered GEP, take it
      If not, is ok

If your child is offered, I would say yes, take it and congratulations πŸ™‚

Most (if not all) GEPers seem to really enjoy it and they would benefit from it too πŸ™‚

Curriculum is very enriching and fun.

    • RE: PSLE 2013 - Results Discussion

Could I know what the average score for this year's PSLE is? Also, how much lower (or maybe higher, but unlikely) is it compared to precious years'? πŸ™‚

By the way, I'm still trying to decide which third language to take up next year. I know most will say that I should follow my interests, but I don't have any interests that relate to the languages. Any advice? πŸ˜„
Yay. Prelims over tomorrow. But now I feel like I'm burnt out. Teachers don't even give a lot of homework...WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!? 😞 (Stress finally setting in...)

You should be happy... At least your class gets let out TWICE in one day. My class doesn't even get let out once every 2 days... And then we slave away and hint that we would like to go out (and of course teacher doesn't get the hint) and then directly state that we would LOOOOOVE to go out and Mrs L. is like, \"I know Resi is out now... But later you fall down and hurt yourself, then tomorrow cannot take exam!!!!!!!\"
Tomorrow is Higher Chinese Paper 2... Not NAPFA. πŸ˜‚

Yeah. But you'd probably score >270. AND you got 100 for Maths prelims. Or you probably would.
ehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe no.

    • RE: GEP 2013 - Screening & Selection

      imanewbie:
Hi! I'm P6. Gonna share my experience about the screening, but remember, it's my own experience, so not everyone will feel the same, okay?

P3: I was in one of the two 1st classes in my school. That year, they changed the english syllabus to the stellar progromme, where we read big books as a class and stuff. I really didn't like it, as the teachers kept asking the class to read it over and over again, it was so boring. This led me to pay very little attention in class. I merely did whatever worksheets given and that was it. In class, I finished reading the whole Harry Potter series under my table. Heehee. I did not go for any prep class whatsoever. I took the first test just after I had recovered from a fever, and I was surprised 'cos i never expected it to be that easy, cos it was like the same difficulty as normal papers that we did. Together with about 15 other people from my class, I was selected to go to the second round. That two days were mentally and physically draining for me, though I thought it was kinda fun to do. At the start of Nov, 2 people from my class go into GEP: me and another boy. I was happy, so I decided to go anyway, since the work that we did in school was so boring. However, I had a hard time choosing which school to go. In the end, I got posted to a school that was not even in any of my four choices. I did not choose to appeal.

P4: At first, almost everyone had no friends. However, we quickly made friends and I did not regret my decision. THe work was fun, challenging and so much more suitable pace for me. There was no longer the nonsensical \"I don't friend you anymore!\" or \"don't be friends with her! she's very....\" that still happens in my former school. ( I still keep in touch with my old friends.) We had to do things like ss portfolio, photo journal, family tree, etc. I enjoyed that year.

P5: For P5 it was more or less the same, but the workload it the heaviest of the three years. We had to write mystery stories and do the normal two ss portfolios and other projects.

P6:So far, this is the most enjoyable year, as most of the projects we do are done. for example, we finish up both ss portfolios in order to concentrate on PSLE. Most of the things we do are the prelim papers from the nine ge centres.

That's all! I hope this will help when you are deciding on whether to go for it or not. People who say the gepers have low eq and stuff are just prejudiced and stereotyping us.
We have the exact same experience. :snuggles:

Thanks. I didn't remember the scene

πŸ˜† We haven't watched the show, but kids have seen the Youtubes. When they see fire-engines on the road now, they go \"bee doh bee doh...\"

Not very common in my class but we use it occasionally to annoy people.

The first round isn’t that hard, having experienced it myself. It’s based more on applying what you have learnt on math and English.

      Good luck!
