For those affiliate sec schools that takes in all their pri students, the system will post them to their affiliate school first? then open up the balance place available before the posting starts? or it still goes through the system, only if they select 1st choice, the system will auto accept regardless of their COP.

Chance upon this thread as regards to affiliation sec school.

My boy is from an affiliate pri school. Can I ask if his COP did not meet the affiliate secondary school’s requirement, should we still put the school as 1st choice?
For some affiliation secondary schools that take in all their pri school students? How’s the posting is done? As I understand posting is done based on ranking. Does it means affiliation schools will accept all their affiliated students first when it selected as 1st choice? So is this done before the system do the posting?
Any clarification will be greatly appreciated.

Your DS has a lot of exposures which is very good. Doesn't matter if he didn't win the competitions as SST looks at their experiences and exposures too. My DS only participated mainly in local competitions like APYRs, he won 1st in the latest winter game under the surprise challenge. Now preparing for FLL in Feb2015.

My DS past years p4 & 5 results are not favourable, only an average 70% and if goes through the DSA...this is very worrying as I'm confident that he will do very well in the practical round but he will fail in the selection round based on results. :sad:

NUSH oso 100% through DSA but one has to be very good in Maths, preferably participated in Maths Olympia.
River Valley is an IP school and its under one of my option too but to apply you need to have an A* in Chinese.
DS is neither good in Chinese nor Maths.
So only choice I left is SST.
However will still give it a shot at River Valley and appeal with Robotics & String ensemble under special talent...

SST is School of Science & Technology.
"Students in SST will undergo a 4year programme and sit for ‘O’ Level. They will be able to select from a variety of ‘O’ Level Applied Subjects, such as Media Studies (English Language), Biotechnology and Fundamentals of Electronics, in addition to the usual Language, Mathematics, Science and Humanities subjects". A rather new school and their 1st batch of graduates did quite well in the O level.
Admission is 100% through DSA and not available under sec 1 posting.
DS loves robotics and science hence he hopes to get into SST.

Had visited this link and did an analysis;
1. HaiSing is the most favourable choice but their admission eligible rate to JC has dropped to only 70% in 2013. I would prefer DS to go JC than Poly. Location is at PasirRis which is too far.
2. Woodlands Ring eligible rate to JC is even lower at only 65% in 2013.
3. Admiralty didn’t published any results but should be same range around 60-65%.
4. Greendale & PeiHwa have not been very active in robotics and no awards have been achieved in recent years.

I hope DS can pursue his interests in science and technology further.

Unfortunately, SST only takes in students 100% via DSA…its not open for application under the normal sec 1 posting.

Sure will give it a shot and try. Any advice what can we prepare to up the chances other than just submitting past years results which will be gone case here. DS oso having grade 5 violin and now preparing for grade 6 theory & practical. I'm very lost now...1st child taking PSLE next yr...can advice me what's the best for DS with his passion in Robotics, interest in violin, results so-so! :scratchhead:

Any advice what to prepare for DSA to SST? DS loves Robotics and dreams to go SST. He has been participating in few compeitions under public category and won 1st. However P4-5 results not favourable and Robotics is not core CCA in his school. Seems like his chance of getting selected will be very slim and in fact looks like no hope at all. Have emailed to SST for more information but failed to get a clearer understanding from their standard official kind of answers that are also stated in their website…was told to visit them at open house in may next yr. If DS P4-5 results are below 70%, will he still be select for the next round if he has participate and wins some robotics compeitions? Other than SST, what other route or good school I can consider under Robotics?

Need suggestion and review on Wharton Preschool at Amk, Broadway Plaza urgently.
I am looking for a preschool for my DS whose going to K1 next year.
Not much choices available in AMK central. Both Learningkidz & Little Skool House are full.
Anyone has heard of them or any parents have their DS/DD enrolled in this Wharton preschool?
Please advice as I would need to secure a place real fast.
