Yes, my exact thoughts too..

elenang:Hi elenang, thank you for providing some assurance. I tried taking bus from paya lebar mrt and it definitely seems safer than to alight at Aljunied station. That said, travel time will increase.Hi parents,
My daughter is moving to Sec 2 next year. She doesn't take the MRT but takes the bus to and fro. So far, she never felt that her safety is compromised. In addition, I must say that as a parent, I am pleased with the school curriculum and teachers. On all my visits to the school, I found that students are well behaved and respectful. Teachers also knows their students well and are very encouraging. On top of that, the school also asks for feedback and takes our concerns seriously.
yippie131:I'm in the same dilemma, my girl went to the open house last week and loves the school very much, the COP is lower than ther T- scores, high chance that she will get in. But as parents, we are concern about the environment outside the school, and the name does sound good... Another concern is, it is affiliated to Gelyang Methodist Primary, this could affect the real COP.
mindays:Thanks mindays. That's the dilemma, Tried taking the train to the school yesterday with my girl and I noticed there were policemen questioning thugs at both exits of the mrt. And there's an adult shop at the row of shophouse just beside the mrt. :faint: that really got me feeling uncomfortable.yippie131:I'm in the same dilemma, my girl went to the open house last week and loves the school very much, the COP is lower than ther T- scores, high chance that she will get in. It is a Methodist institution that has affiliation with ACJC as well. The environment should not be a problem as it is located in the \"cleaner\" side of Geylang (towards Paya Lebar), so area wise it should be fine. There are a few condominiums surrounding GMSS as well (rest assured)
Hi all,
My daughter is interested in the curriculum offered by GMSS however I have concerns putting her in a school in such close proximity in Geylang Especially when we see thugs and police at the met station.
Can any parents who have had kid/s studying in the school provide some insight on the general safety and security issue.
TIA
