Hi,
Need help in this qn : (using a method that uses simultaneous equation and does not require cubic equation, factor theorem)
An isosceles triangle has sides 40 cm, 29 cm and 29 cm. Find another isosceles triangle with integer sides that has the same area and perimeter as this triangle.
Thanks!

RE: DSA 2015
dilshamum:
Hi,Hi, I hope someone can help me with my queries.
My son is on waiting list to SOTA, so he was also given the DSA preference form today from school.
As his primary school has affiliated secondary school, so if he was not confirm from SOTA upon receiving his PSLE result, he will be eligible for the S1 posting.
My question is will he be penalise that he needs to use non-affiliation cut off point to enter the sec school? Eg. affiliated students will use 200 to enter the sec school, non-affiliated students use 240.
Does that mean the sec school will look at 240 for my son to enter the sec school?
The affiliated secondary school has emphasise to put as 1st choice in their S1 posting form, otherwise, there is no chance at all.
Thanks!
Since your son is offered WL for SOTA, he can put in his option in his DSA preference form. And on results day, if the WL is converted to CO, then he will get a place in SOTA and need not go through S1 posting. However, if the WL is not converted to CO, he can still choose the schools that he likes through the S1 posting. If he places his affiliated secondary school as his first choice, it will be based on the Tscore for affiliated students, (i.e. if TScore for affiliated students = 200, as long as he gets 200+, he can get in). However if he did not put his affiliated secondary school as his first choice, then it will be based on the Tscore for non-affiliated students. -

RE: RGS/NYGH/RI/HCI/NUSH - SBGE for Yr 1 - Yr 2015

Hello ERA_GEPer,
I assume you've been to the Open Houses for both schools? That should give you an idea of the vibe, ambience and energy in each school. Talk to the seniors there. It's difficult for us to advise you which school you should choose because it's a really personal choice.ERA_GEPer:
Hi, I am a student from RGPS. (GEPer)
I know that this might be too early to start assuming things, but I really want to know whether to choose RGS or NYGH as my school IF they both accept me. I have a lot of seniors who are all promoting RGS as a school. However, my family supports me to go to NYGH as it is closer to my house, and they feel that chinese is a crucial to my education which they feel that NYGH will be able to provide better. I am at a dilemma as even though RGS suits my personality better, I understand the need for learning chinese and the more ladylike, so to put it, environment. I am naturally more outspoken and headstrong, hence i feel that RGS would suit me better. However, I cannot deny the fact that NYGH will be better for me. Also, my good friends are planning to go to NYGH, even though majority of the students want to go to RGS. One of the reasons why I'm hesitating to go to NYGH is because my chinese is... to put it quite frankly, quite bad. I have a 84 for chinese and 75 for higher chinese. So...
I will definitely apply for both schools for DSA. Im just thinking forward since the time when we choose is around the PSLE time when we should be studying, so yeah. Any opinions on the matter? Feedback or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
*And anyone know of anyone who has gone to NYGH but then to RI? I was thinking about that route as it would be the best of both worlds, except that since I'm taking DSA, it would mean I'm taking IP and not O-Levels. If any cases pop up, please tell me
As for students moving on from NYGH to RI, I saw a couple of students in NYGH uniform in RI earlier this year when school started for the JAE intake. So there are students who move from NYGH to RI. Doubt that you can do that if you're a DSA student though.
Just to let you know that there's new direction from MOE. If you entered NYGH via DSA, you will not be able to move to RI (or any other JCs) and similarly if you are accepted into RGS via DSA, you cannot switch to HCI (or any other JCs). We were just informed about it this year. You can change only if you enter the schools via S1 posting but not via DSA.
Both NYGH/HCI and RGS/RI are great schools. So don't worry. -

We are going to pay our respects to our Founding Father. Any idea whether is it better to take MRT to Raffles Place or City Hall? Where is the start of the queue?

Hi,For the past 2 weeks or so, some of the classes encountered issues with the school WIFI ie cannot connect their iPads to the WIFI.
The problem still persists to-date and it is not rectified at all. The admin office confirmed that the school is aware but unable to elaborate more on the matter.
This IT problem has caused much inconvenience to the girls, who have to resort to tethering their smartphones using 3G/4G. I dread to see the phone bill at the end of the month !!! :yikes:
In this technological age, how can the school allow this to happen ?
My dd's class also has this problem. But she says wifi is ok enough to support those apps that they need to use like edmodo or iTunesU. Only those those app like youtube, tumblr, fb which are more bandwidth-heavy cannot use. So shd be quite ok.
edmodo and iTunesU doesn't use so much bandwidth. So likely won't overshoot the 3G/4G limit with tethering. So phone bill shd not be affected. don worry.

A few sport cca approached my dd and told her that if she put the sport as first choice she will get the place, how does it works? For example, if she put dance as 1st choice, gymnastics as 2nd choice, basketball as 3rd choice, does it mean that gymnastics and basketball will no longer take her since she placed as 2nd choice and 3rd choice, although they approached her?
Btw there could be still a few round of auditions for the various CCAs. After the auditions, it will be a bit like DSA where there's Confirmed Offers, Waiting List, Rejected. If you have the CO and you put it as first choice, you will definitely get the CCA. The school encourages each girl to take up only one CCA cos of the time commitment. For those who want to take more, you have approach the teacher in charge, it is a case-by-case basis. So for e.g. if modern dance offers your girl a confirmed offer and she puts it as first choice, she will get modern dance, hence gymnastics and basketball can no longer accept her. (unless it is second CCA, which you will have talk to the teacher) -
