RE: Preschool Curriculum
Hi,
Is there any mummy / daddy here who can share on Kinderland’s curriculum? I am intending to enrol DD into a ccc when she’s about 20mth. I have gone down to the one of their centres in the CBD area but they were not willing to share the curriculum, only refered me to the timetable and their themes. I was pretty taken aback. How am I going to make an informed decision without knowing what my child will be learning year to year?
In comparison, another CCC that I visited but not so marketed and branded, they were very open about their curriculum and was willing to share their curriculum from playgroup up to K2.
I have my likes and dislikes about both centres but will like to make a better decision if I am more informed about Kinderland’s curriculum.
Really appreciate any info and advise. -
RE: Montessori Phonics - Introduction To Single Letter Sounds
Hi Buds,
Yes, I do know reading is just one component to the English language.
DD seems to be able to listen to instructions (listening)… She’s blabbering some words (speaking)… She should start with learning reading before writing isn’t it?
I have been getting her to listen to the ABC song and have bought those alphabet magnets to play with… I hope this is enuf for her to learn the letter names… When you mentioned her knowing letter shapes, does it mean she has to write it?
I am in the midst of making the sandpaper letter… started with small caps…
Bought the foam sheets but gotta be done with sandpaper first… Lotsa cutting…
I am also trying to read a short story to her every day, if not once in two days…
Hope to find more time to work with DD… -
RE: Kinderland
Hi,
I will like to check with parents who have children in pre-n1.
Is there a curriculum for this age group?
When I visited the centre, they gave me the impression that the children are too young to do much learning thus they focus more on skills development? Even their comm book to the parents assesses the child’s skills.
I do know that they have 4 themes a year but when I probed further, they did not elaborate specifically on aspects of the language are they learning.
Do they teach the children phonics?
How about math?
Any comments or advise is greatly appreciated.
Thank you. -

RE: Montessori Phonics - Introduction To Single Letter Sounds
Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and have been spending the past 2 days reading up on Montessori related postings. Managed to finish reading the posts from this thread.
Buds,
I am very appreciate of your sharing in the forums. Have been trying to digest them.
I have a 14mo daughter and trying to do some learning with her at home (Im a FTWM). I have been doing flash cards (though not very consistent) and will like to start on phonics. I have attended a trial phonics class and have been singing the phonics song to her. Although she cant speak yet, she can do some of the actions related to the song. I have learnt that the phonics lesson here is for 18months and up. Does that mean I should not intro phonics to her and teach her to recognise the letters and their names first?
Thank you. -
Enzoelize is here...
Hi all,
Just a quick intro abt myself:
1. I am a FTWM. I leave home early in the morning, work about 11 hours a day before I go home to my DD in the evening. (I wish I can spend more time with DD though)
2. I have a 14 month old girl.
3. Found this forum and realised there are some really good sharings going on. I will like to learn from such and spend whatever amount of time with DD wisely.
4. Am I kiasu? Well.... I wouldn't be here otherwise...
Haha...
Cheers
