      Hey thks Supportive mum!

That's very good advice. As a 1st timer parent of a pri sch kids, I think I'm still learning to strike a balance to instill a holistic learning approach towards my kids. I do give him assessments though, but not excessively cos I believe there's still a need to get him into momentum, to at least get the basic foundations right. Yes, reading books is very impt.

Thks for the advice on grammar and reinforcement math. Will take note.. šŸ˜„

Personally, I find it abit challenging to gauge my son's performance in school, since most works are done in school. I appreciate the school's new approach towards a holistic learning (and not just academic) for the pupils. However, it's still early to see what kinda effects it will have.

Like what u mentioned, the teachers will gauge them based on informal testing. haha.. think my kid will face a challenge since he's very easily distracted. *headache :scratchhead: . Still figuring how to help him on that..

I think some parents r more experienced n some r newbies like me. So hope we can use this platform to share our experience with our kids, so that we can be better parents! :snuggles:

      Thanks MyPillow..

Yah, P1 will not be required to participate for any remedial or CCA. It would be a challenge arranging for after sch transport if they do need to stay bk aft school, esp if we are working parents.

From what I see now, P1 seems rather relaxed for a start. which is gd for them to adapt. šŸ™‚

Hi.. I'm new here, my child is in P1 nx yr.

Single session std timing is fm 7.40am to 1.50pm. I'm curious abt the extended hours required for P1 for CCA and remedial lessons, which can stretch to 4.15pm. Is it a std practice in schools, even at such young age?

      FYI, below 2013 Rivervale timetable..
