Can elaborate why please?worst school in Singapore - don't go.
Academic coaching/teachers not up to par?
Or sports coaching not up to par? The kids are still going for some regional competitions or have they been cancelled due to Covid?
Or the admin/boarding/student morale is a mess?[/quote]
It is not a worst school.
let me answer your question.
1. Academic Teachers are all graduated from NIE. They need at least certain number of years teaching in a MOE School before they can apply and teach in singapore sports school.
2. Most sporting coaches are ex-national athletes and/or are very experience coaches and a plus if the coach is a foreigner which coaches the national team in his/her origin country.
3. SSP has one of the best boarding facilities. the students are well taken care of. every level is categorize into houses. each house has 2-3 staff to take care of the students well being. They do make sure every students feel comfortable in boarding. -
RE: Singapore Sports School
Personally, I am an alumni of Singapore sports school. I was from Swimming academy.
In Reply to @Rainnehong, yes your child need to be swimming competitively in competition such as Singapore National Age Group and School Nationals which he represents the school for swimming competition. Usually at these competitions, there are SSP people scouting for young swimmers. Normally, your child have to start swimming competitively around primary 3 or 4. then when he or she is P5 or P6, the chances of getting notice is higher. Results wise, competition results have to be either top 8 (means he/she gets to swim in the finals) or better if he/she can come in top 3.
I graduated as class of 2012. So when I enrolled in SSP then and now, the criteria has change a lot. Back then the criteria was not very stringent compared to now as the number of swimmers intake per batch has dropped significantly. Used to be 12-14 swimmers to now about 6-8 swimmers or maybe less.
