ya son is registering this year.

Remember that renting a place but not actually staying there for the duration of your kid's Primary School education is a felony, so please consider this carefully.
Thanks for the reminder. It was tempting but our plan was to rent a place only if son gets in to cut down the travelling time.

Thanks so much for the link.

      ChiefKiasu:
So if you can get a place within 1km, you should be quite safe for Phase 2B.
Does it mean I still have time to rent a place and improve my chances in 2B?
      (fingers crossed)

      Thanks again

    • RE: Anglo Chinese Family of Schools

      Hi everybody

I am starting to worry (read: panick) about my 6 year-old son's P1 registration.

We are thinking of registering him for ACSJ under 2B (church affiliation) but our problem is that we are way beyond 2km from the school. I am confused as I read somewhere that ballots are only done up to 2km but the school website showed there are cases of >2km applicants getting into the school. Can somebody be kind enough to clarify if there is any chance of getting into the school if we are more than 2km away? We intend to do the reverse, i.e. rent a nearby apt if we manage to get him in.

      Would really appreciate enlightment.... :?:

      Many thanks!

Have your children uttered any sweet words to you that make your day?

When my son was 3, he told me one day that he nearly cried in school that day cos he missed me. I taught him to generate that negative feeling into something positive by either writing me a note or drawing me a picture. Till now, 2 years on, he still sometimes comes home from school with love notes and interesting drawings for me. I keep them all with care. My folder is bursting to the brim but it makes my day all the time.

      Hi Luvkid

Thanks for your comforting words. I guess the stress is bearable now that I have support from like minded friends in this forum like you! šŸ˜„

Yes, I will be starting to prepare myself, hubs and son for the unthinkably stressful world of P1. Haha!

      Cheers!

      Hi chief

Ya, saw a few sleepy faces in the general office asking the clerk where the enrichment classes were held. Bet your son must be happy that he is spared from it.

Apparently this is the first year the school meet the parents before they select the PVs, hoping to have a better fit between their needs and what the parents can offer.

It was a half hour meeting between the Principal, 2 other ladies (they did not intro themselves) and about 6 sets of parents. We had to introduce ourselves based on our profession and what we can do to help the school (while the 3 took down notes). Then proceeded with Q&A before the next session of parents took over.

I have not attended an interview for years and this was truly stressful. Parents were aggressively selling themselves. At the end of it, hubs told me that if we are not selected for PV, we can forget about sending our son to KW. At that moment, I felt like 😢 . See lah, and this is just the beginnning!

    • Mummy eyeosh: hello to all!

      Hi all

Was stressfully introduced to the life of a pre-P1 child after attending a pre-PV selection meeting at Kong Hwa School this morning. So came home and googled for support groups and found this forum. DIE DIE must join

I am a working mom to a 5 year old boy.

Hope to share in this forum.

      God bless!
