You may try 郑渊洁作品系列或者沈石溪动物小说系列。They are most popular books for 7-14 yr kids in China and recomended by parents.

Regarding post psle activities...
dd2 agreed to the activities that I proposed to her. She will have 16 days of vacation no need to study (my offer) and 2 days of tv marathon to finish watching all the star wars movies in starhub hard disk (my offer). She will have to exercise (my demand) - learn swimming and refresh her cycling. She will take online courses on coding and programming (her interests) and re-read all 50+ Chinese novels in her collection + go karaoke (her demand). Amongst all these activities, she will also self study next year syllabus 6 hours (our consensus). The greatest highlight will be piano,. Looking forward to sing along when dd play all my favourite karaoke songs
