    • RE: Learning Chinese (Primary/Preschool)

      Qing2:
Currently looking for a Chinese Tutor for my boy who is in Pri 4. Prefer to be in Sengkang area and 1-1 tuition. Prefer to have fellow parents to recommend.

      Needs help in the following:-
      - weak in ä½œę–‡
      - lack of confidence in Oral Exam (need to brush up on his communication)
      - cant answer in Comprehension

Hope to start him in July 2017.

      TIA.
Just my 2cent thought, 1 to 1 might not be a good choice. You have to see whether your son can focus better in 1 to 1 or in smaller groups. I tried 1 to 1 for my K1 son but he hates all the attention his tutor shower on him. He hates Chinese even more. Therefore I switched to a enrichment centre and now he improves in both writing and speaking. It takes time to make him like the language. Though travelling to and fro the centre can be hectic but it is worthwhile that he looks forward to go to the class.

From what I know P5 will increase in the weightage and difficulties in the Chinese paper. It will be more difficult than in P3/P4. Therefore I also enrol my P2 girl in the writing class to prepare her early.

    • RE: Beijing Language School - Discussion

I think Beijing started changing their Preschool materials last year which I find my child more engaged in the activities. He does not speak Chinese to me at home so I was shocked when the teacher show me a clips on him in the class speaking Chinese. Btw, I recently enrolled my elder girl into their primary 2 composition class. I think it is important to start learning compo writing in primary 2 as they will be tested in school in pri 3. Half a year with 1 lesson per week, given exposure to more than 20 lessons on compo, I hope she can do well in both compo writing and comprehension.

I understand that compre is the most difficult section in paper 2. What I like about Beijing is that they have 3:1 ratios for compo classes. Which mean my girl will also touch on paper 2 learning.

P.S: I enrolled in Sengkang branch because my friend recommends me there. Her son went to Sengkang even though the other branch is nearer. šŸ˜„
