Shaolin8:Well they have 2 canteens last year(dunno about this year). The first one sold chicken rice , nasi lemak etc while the other canteen sold hot drinks and waffles ( all the snack stuff, should be still there rite? :scratchhead: ). And yes you can pack food for them. Thanks, KiasuMay11 and all,
thanks for allaying my fears. Can I check how much pocket money we can give to our Primary 1 kids? Full day school, is it very tiring for child? Where do they eat? How is their tuckshop like? Are they given lockers? Can we packed food for them to school?

You know , I have been asking myself the same question. I remember the whole class asking bout it but the teacher did not give a clear reason why they don't want to give back our compos. However, when I was in p6, the chinese teacher will give some feedback on your compo but still will not want to give us back our compos. One thing I dislike abt DLS is Chinese compo is kept by school. Especially exam paper. Very tough to know what is the kid weakness and how to improve. Did have PTM but very subjective and advice given is very general. Compo not given back guess it bcos parent might query why the sentence is construct wrongly, etc.
I have requested to get the compo back but till now still not able. No idea why other school dare to give back and not DLS. -

I graduated last yearHi Favpusie,
which year u graduate?
Hi Melodyrain2,
There is a mix of teacher la. Fierce is not all bad. Overall, DLS is good. There are lots of non-academic activities too. Recently, my DD has the interest of Ukulele as i hear from her that school has hundred of them and they learn during P4 Music.

Well,I find the learning and culture environment is good where the teachers are helpful and they emphasize on values like gratefulness , respect etc. If your child is a catholic he/she will attend catechism , If not he/she will attend character value lessons .Hi Favplusle,
Please tell me about the culture and learning environment at DLS? What CCAs DLS is strong at or what are the interesting ones? I read from the thread that teachers can be fierce, is it happening?
I just registered my DS under Phase 2A2 for P1 next year, so I have very interested to find out anything about the school. DS is looking forward to studying at DLS too.
For the CCA part, im not so sure... I only joined CCAs which has all girls in it.
If your child loves sports,Basketball and Taekwondo can be quite interesting.
If your child loves outdoor stuff, Scouts will be good
If your child likes IT, Robotics club will be fun
During my 6 years in DLS, I have encountered fierce teachers, but they wont be fierce (or terrible) to the extent where they pull students hair etc.
As more new teachers come to teach with others leaving the school, it may be a different case for your child. -

Let's see, from my 6 years in DLSS, I can remember that they sell bread ,crackers , hot/cold milo, roti prata, mee goreng, nasi lemak, chicken rice, chicken soup, a small slice of pizza , hash brown , chicken wings, fishball noodles , laksa, yakult , fruits , some bottled drinks and a vending machine that sells drinks.Hi,
I am new to this thread. My boy in P1 this year too. Sorry if my question sounds stupid. Can somebody tell me what are the food served in the canteen? My boy cannot seem to find anything that interest him and I have to pack snacks for him everyday.
There are probably more stuff that they sell but i cant remember.....
Anyways, Happy Eating!
