Mr. Lim Cheng Yong, Guidance Officer from the Ministry of Education, will share on how parents can help children discover their interests and develop their strengths, and guide them to make informed education and career choices.

Fostering Strong Bonds during Teenage Years
Mr. Bryan Tan, a resource speaker of Fei Yue Community Services, will be sharing on how to help your child cope with the transitions in the teenage years, as well as the influence of Youth Culture and its corresponding issues. Bryan will also touch on how to foster strong bonds between you and your child through effective communications.
Mr. Bryan Tan is an experienced trainer-consultant on learning and leadership, organizational change, career management, family life and personal development. He has over a decade of experience helping adults, teenagers and children fulfil their aspirations and potential.

Navigating the Teenage Years
Mr Richard Cheong, a certified family life educator, will share interesting insights into the different changes children will be facing, such as environmental, social and physical. He will also explore how parents can help with:
• Dealing with the Peer factor (How to deal with peer pressure)
• Adapting to Stress (The kind of stress that you will face in studies and changes)
• CPR parenting (CPR parenting model by Dr. Jerry Solomon)
Mr. Richard Cheong holds a degree in Counselling Psychology and a Diploma in Counselling and Communication with Edith Cowan University. He has more than 13 years of experience in marriage counselling, as well as in children and teens issues. Richard has been interviewed on News Radio 93.8FM and Channel U. Mr. Richard Cheong is happily married with three children.

Preparing Your Child for Primary School: A Parent Seminar by MOE


Starting primary school is a big step in your child's life. To help you better understand primary school programmes and enable you to make key education decisions, the Ministry of Education will be conducting a seminar on Primary School Education. At the seminar, parents can look forward to sharing sessions by the school principal and a parent volunteer, as well as view the various programmes our primary schools provide.

The Primary Education System
Mr Chris Loh, Principal, Pei Tong Primary School

The primary school years are focused on giving students a good grasp of English Language, Mother Tongue and Mathematics; as well as helping children build character and cultivate good values and habits. Mr Loh will share with parents an overview of Primary School Education.

Supporting Your Child in Primary School
Mrs Theresa Vijay, Vice-Chairperson, Parent Support Group, Pei Tong Primary School

With the right support from parents and schools, children will be able to adapt well and build a strong foundation for learning. Mrs Vijay will share practical tips on how to prepare your child for primary school so that he or she can have an enjoyable school experience.
