    • RE: San Lorenzo Montessori and Halifax Montessori

      Hi,

did you manage to find a review for Halifax and San Lorenzo? it might be good to take a look. I have went to Halifax a long time ago, about 1.5 years and found that the teachers for the nursery left the kids sitting around, crying and disappeared somewhere else. I was being brought around to view but the administrator didnt look for the teachers to get them back. It was recommended by my ped whose daughter is in the kindergarten class.

    • Good montessori in the east - full day?

      Hi mummies,

need your kind advice on the good montessori schools in the east. it’s hard to find good ones near Pasir Ris or maybe i am not looking in the right places. I heard MMI Pasir Ris seems good but full for 2012?
How about Brighton Montessori? San Lorenzo seems nice but only offers 830 to 1130am…

Thanks very much for sharing your experience, would be great to hear from happy mummies re the schools and most imptly, the teachers…

    • RE: Lorna Whiston Pre School

      Hi,

my kiddo has started the first week at LW @raintree cove aka East coast. I must say I am a little disappointed with their teachers, even after considering that the first week is always a little messy.
Good and not so good -
      not so good
      1. no teaching assistant for younger kids - ratio 1: 5 kids for N1 (which is any kid borned in 2009) so they are averagely 2years 2 months to 2 year 9 months old. 10 kids in one class, they left 4-5 kids bawling and I (the parent) was helping the kiddos to clean the spit up due to prolong crying.
      2. during sand play: the 2 teachers had their back to the kids, brushing off sand and cleaning one kid each, one of the kids walked off towards the road…the mother came back from BK and quickly grabbed her girl
      3. Water play: the teachers were handling 1-2 younger brawling kiddos while the non crying ones started to play on the soapy floor and upset the tubs. they started fighting over the toys and would have easily slipped. However, the teachers are not aware.
      4. most of the 4 hours are spent lining up to go to toilet, changing into different gear for activities and eating. about 30 mins are spent on reading the same book for the whole week and throwing balls.

      good:
      1. the place is clean and spacious, toilets are clean.
      2. food is very good, both in variety and taste
      3. lots of "excursions" for parents who likes to join in

I feel at the min, the safety of the kids are most impt, the teachers shouldnt be tasked with cleaning up esp for kids so young. finally, there’s something that dont agree with me: so many kids crying and the teachers went on singing and reading, ignoring and not even trying to comfort them worries me. They have the attitude - the crying kids will get used to it, just ignore them and carry on with the "work". Some will cry no matter what you do but its the fact that they didnt even try.
Spoke with the principal but no teaching assistant will be hired for the younger class. I am still in two minds to change…the fact is I came here to ask if there are any good full day montessori in the east near Pasir Ris?

    • RE: All About Full-Time Maids

Thanks everyone. Appreciate your kind responses…

I just told my DH my plan to change her, we got insurance on the bond so no worries of losing money there.

As for the loan, yes, we have 1 more month to go. just checked, alot of Indo maids are running away and trying to get rehired for higher pay! peapot, you are right, hard to get good ones, my mum says they are mostly the same, all liers. - its a good thing my mum stays with me so at least we have someone there most of the time. I will start looking for a replacement. If i were to go back to the same agency, I can request for someone new, not ex singapore?

    • RE: All About Full-Time Maids

Hello! i am new and got a problem with my indo maid of 5 mths. She came back recently with alot of love bites (she even pasted a butterfly shaped plaster over one of it) on her neck. She tried to tell me those are rashes which i dismissed. I was pretty upset and told her i dont want to see that happening again but she never admitted it.

Its been 4 days but i am thinking if I should let her go. her work is pretty good, she follows instructions well. I taught her to bake bread and cookies for the house and she takes care of my baby boy while i work. problem is she talks on the phone after all the chores late in to the night, always talking to different men and giggling and singing away. it didnt bother me much as i feel as long as she does her work well, i dont want to interfere in her private life. But she talks to men she has never seen before and would came to me with request for laptop, request to go to bintan to see her boyfriend etc. She spends her money on taking cabs and buying clothes from cotton on etc.I am afraid she might get pregnant or invite trouble back home.

Wanted to see any good advice out here…thanks and sorry for a long post!
