• RE: How to make your child more sociable in school

My son is 10 and he does not seem to have any friends in school. During recess, after eating his food, he spends the remainder of his recess time in the library. If the library is closed, he spends his time walking around the school by himself. I have tried asking him whether any one is bullying or teasing him but he denies it. I have tried speaking to his teachers but they will just say that he is fine and they will monitor his behaviour closely in school henceforth etc. He is quite friendly with his enrichment classes friends and gets along well at home with his siblings. Anyone facing a similar problem?

Hi,

Not sure if dd missed it or something....but may I know if any parent here receive year 2013 school magazine yet? When I asked dd, she always answer me she don't know. :stupid:

Anyone which are the top 2 classes for P3 in 2015? Will it be M and N again?

Yes top class is M & N in which 1st 40 would be 270 to 300 pts (M) & N class follow by that. The rest are all normal classes. Students in M& N classes would be expose to Onsponge Maths, Higher Chinese & extra words for spelling. It is very stressing for kids & both parents in the M& N classes.
Think M&N is no difference. Boy with 292pts but in N class. I heard they split the top 80 students into 2 classes alternately.
Will the test and exam questions for 3M/N and the rest of the classes be similar? Or will the test and exam questions for 3M/N be tougher?

    • RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

      Hi all,

I have a boy born on 2 Jan 2009. According to MOE rules, he will only be eligible for P1 registration in Jul 2015 and he is supposed to start P1 in Jan 2016.

I understand that children born on 1 Jan 2009 are eligible to start P1 in Jan 2015. I would like my boy to start P1 in Jan 2015. Any idea who I should write to in order to appeal? Will the Principal be the appropriate person to speak to?

    • RE: I Can Read - Discussion

      Monster Mummy:
      Hi,

I totally agreed that the children meet with the right teacher will enhanced their learning. My kids did benefit from this programme especially for the younger one. Of course, as a parent we also play crucial role in enforce and learning with them. As the children teacher also emphasis to us that the parent also need to revise with them after each lesson. But as we always emphasis some methods work well for different kids. So is also have to depend how we fit in the right learning methodology.
I have a 6 year old that has been in ICR program for the past 2 years and he still can't read. Simple words like \"fast\", 'then\" and \"cannot\" is still greek to him. We are really worried about how he is gonna cope in P1 next year. We have never taken a day of phonics in our lifes and we can't help him with his phonics and blending stuff. Anyone has a better reading program to intro? Is the program at British Council better?
