Hello parents
I am an IP student who just received my O-level results yesterday. I sat for the Higher Chinese paper and obtained a score below my own expectations, and am now facing the dilemma of whether I should retake the paper end of this year in J1.
I have read through a few threads, and from what I can gather, is that trying too hard for a good grade in Mother Tongue is unnecessary, and even redundant, as it would be better to save that time spent on Chinese lessons and/or homework to focus on other subjects for the A-level exams.
However, what I understand from my teachers and friends is that your O-level HTML grade will be converted into its equivalent in the A-levels and it will be reflected on your report card? So letโs say if I had an A1, I will have an A grade for the Chinese subject which will be reflected together with the other A-level papers I will be sitting for. Is that true?
And if it is, is the conversion of the result from Os to As on the same level? That is to say, getting an B3 or B4 in Os will be a B in As?
In a nutshell, my worry is that I donโt really want my Chinese grade to "taint" my A-level report card. I know it sounds very shallow, but I am just wondering that if I feel like I have a good chance of pulling my grade up in Chinese, should I just go for it? Or should I really just focus all my efforts on my JC subjects instead? I have heard that H1 Chinese lessons are rather time-consuming, or does that differ from JC to JC?
Thank you very much for reading through this and I would really appreciate any advice you can give me
P.S. I did pass my paper overall; I just feel like I could have done better.

RE: Hello (:
Hello everyone!
I just joined KSP today and am still a student. I am considering using this site as a means of getting advice for my studies, so I look forward to participating in any of the discussions!
