RE: All About ADHD : Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Hi Catmoon,
Can i chk how long did it take to get your DD diagnosed? Is it a lengthy process? I plan to go thru polyclinic to get referral for Child Guidance Clinic at HPB.
So things improved alot after medication? It is quite long term right?
Touch wood - did you observe any side effects?
Appreciate your input. I have a 8yo son displaying several ADHD symptoms, very dreamy in class, cannot control emotions, likes to argue for the longest time when he is being asked to do something he doesnt want to... list goes on.
Very worried
Thk u! -
RE: My P1 boy will freeze when stumped by qn during tests!
Thank you for the tips fellow KS parents

DS managed to pass his Maths paper - which is the paper he wasted the most time on. He did ok for English and Chinese (80%+). Funny thing is he is better at Maths compared to the latter 2.
Anw, will reinforce and \"psycho\" more. Hope he will mature quickly as time goes but I know things like that takes time....
Hope our family have the strength to can hang in there during these challenging times - esp w a new BB girl joining the family later this mth!
Trying my best everyday. Jia you everybody!
Have a great Sept Holiday everyone!~ -
RE: My P1 boy will freeze when stumped by qn during tests!
Hi fellow parents,
My DS kept refusing to proceed on/skip to the next qn when he is stumped by a qn during tests. His work has been average and he is stronger at math. However, his teacher reported that he refused to budge after being stumped by a more challenging question during math test today.
Hv been talking/nagging/ scolding him abt this issue but he still continue this. Haizzzz. Under lots of stress because of this :imdrowning:
We believe he can do it just that he can't seem to cross this hurdle. He said he wants to get full marks!?!? We never expected him to get full marks lot, just do his best. Haizzz... How?
:thankyou: for the listening ear. :please: -
RE: What is your dinner?
Hi
Hope this is not too off topic   . Im just planning in advance here. Im just wondering how Im gog to cook porridge for my baby DD after work on weekdays.
I reach home after work around 7pm daily. On top of laundry, I have to check and coach my P1 notti boy (I have no maid or in laws living w me). He is rather dependant so no choice (but trying to brainwash him everyday that he is gog to be a Big brother soon so must handle things himself....).
The fastest way I can think of is to use the smallest thermal cooker I can find. Bring porridge to a rolling boil and then chuck it into the thermal cooker. Like this I dun hv to watch the fire and I can still tend to my DS/do some laundry/go shower?
Any helpful suggestions welcome! I think I can learn alot from the more \"senior\" parents there!
:thankyou: :please: -

I really hope the above statement is true!My kids are 8.5 years apart. The second one wasn't planned either. In fact, we 'planned' in such a way that she shouldn't be conceived. I was depressed throughout the pregnancy and hoped to have a miscarriage.
Hi Rains,
Sorry to hear that u were depressed during your 2nd pregnancy. How did u manage to overcome it? How old are your kids now?
Things must be more settled and smooth
Usually you won't get two naughty kids. Most cases I have seen are 'naughty firstborn (can be boy or girl) but sensible younger one'. So take heart!
Take after me more. I was super independant accorinding to my mum! Almost to the extent that she practically left me alone during most of my childhood! hahah

Im not sure if my mum is up to it as she is qt old now.
When you say your son (first child) is challenging, is he currently studying in a Mainstream school, or in a special need school ?ftwmum:
Reasons why Im not so \"enthu\" about this pregnancy (in no particular order):-
1) DS is a notti and challenging boy to manage. Gets into trouble in school qt often. Qt blur in school. Needs lots of supervision.
DS is studying in Mainstream school. He is not as \"mature\" as most kids so can be quite \"jiang3 bu4 ting1\" sometimes. We have brought him to child psychologist since he is abt 4yrs old and he is slowly better. Cant wait for him to catch up with his peers.
At home he is manageble but got to nag and nag lor.
Hi Phtthp,
As you are in your late 30s -
Up to certain number of weeks in your pregnancy, you may take an amnio test (if you wish), to check on the condition of the growing foetus.
Some parents in late age pregnancy, want to take.
While some parents do not want.
Thanks - I may consider doing this, for peace of mind?!
Once your #2 is born, who take care of her ?
Your parents or in law agree to help you look after, or you quit job look after yourself ?
It will be taxing for her, Im not sure abt baby sitters but guess no choice
as I have to continue working.
Hope she can \"tong\" for abt 1.5yrs till baby is old enough for CC??
