To play safe ask the child and parent to follow the tuition. So there are two sets of parents looking at them.so far very serious cos the boys doing intensive tuition and the mom request our boys teach her too…so 10an hour and mom gets to sit in too to observe and learn

They can relate to their tutee and gave exam tips study tips and dsa tips too. Exam tips like how many minute to each question how to answer science part two, how to strengthen their maths concept…oral what to say.right up to what food to eat for examination

A few of friends’ boys are teaching and they are 12. They take their job v seriously but only intensive in nov and dec. It is not the age it their passion and so far all moms are very inpressed by them. Some chose to sit in some feel there is no need. They just finished their psle and it is so fresh in their mind. The child gets to revise their work, the tutee get to have affordable tuition. They might continue next year. They are really serious about teaching especially so their parents and tutee parents looking at them.

During my time, we have to attend group tuition when we are in primary school as my mom felt she cant teach and psle is a must pass once and for all exam. However once we reached secondary and jc no tuition is allowed…we either study on our own or drown. Fortunately we all managed to attend local university as overseas education is not possible. My Elder bro retook his a level at least 3~4 times and managed to study in nus medical and is one of the oldest graduate. I willprefer my kids to try without tuition in secondary school as taking o level and a level again is a possible option. It teaches them to never give up and maybe a tougher person. Maybe spending lesser time on gaming and better time management will help their studies more than tuition.

A group of p6gep boys are keen to help their peers. You can pm me for details. However they have to go to their house as they are only 12. Only for the school holidays.

A few volunteer welfare organizations might need volunteers. do consider going to help to pass your time. Eg willing hearts need volunteers daily to prepare and pack food for the needy.

Tuition is necessary for weaker students…recently my son and friends starting teaching peer tuition after psle.

Those that really need them and need many sessions.
Those that already have group tuition but prefer to try be taught by a peer
Or lastly those who dont need it at all but parents feel it will be gd for them to have.
Maybe a gd suggestion for the last group…dont go tuition teach their peers… the best way to do well is teach the peers…it reinforces what they have learnt n it benefits their weaker peers. Win win situation.
