      Tut Tut:
Hi parents whose child(ren) is/are at waterway primary, care to share more about the school? Are you please with the school so far? I read through the posts and some mentionef about Chinese enrichment and toastmaster class, is it beneficial for the students so far? Does school start at 8am? Hope to gather more reviews about the school.

Hi Tut Tut! I'm gonna enrol my boy most prob in Waterway pri as it's next to my new place . I've been looking out for reviews on this school too but seems like this thread is not very active.

I have a friend whose girl is in this school n she says that her daughter really enjoys school n as parents , they are happy with the curriculum which they find beneficial to kids esp the Toastmasters prog.

I'm gonna meetup with the school counsellor with rgds to my boy's issue, Selective Mutism, and the counsellor seems very helpful(via email). Keeping fingers crossed!

Any idea if i can register my boy at st hildas under phase 2A2 (12 july) first, then if we are guaranteed a place there, am i still able to proceed to Waterway pri (phase 2c wed 27th july) to register my boy if i find Waterway may be a better school for him? I'm gonna speak to counsellors from both schools and can only decide from there.

      Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can, provided you first withdraw from St Hilda before enrolling him in Waterway Pri.

That said, I would be curious why you would do that if the concern is over the suitability of the schools for your child. Between 2A2 and 2C, you have 15 days to do your groundwork but between now and July, you have around 2 months. What could be established in 15 days but not in 2 months?

Thanks Floppy for the reply! The prob is coz my son has an anxiety disorder and i will have to meet up with the school counsellors from both school to see which school is more supportive of his condition. Waterway pri counsellor is only able to meet me on their open house which is only a few days before their enrolment is opened, whereas for shps, the counsellor will be meeting me next week. Hence, in a dilemma. Gonna push the counsellor at waterway pri for an earlier date again . šŸ˜“

Hi all! Have a qns n hope someone can help me with this šŸ˜„

I am torn between enrolling my boy in st hilda's pri at tampines and Waterway pri (new sch) at Punggol.

St hilda's is my alma mater and i have priority enrolling him. However, due to his anxiety disorder i may put him in Waterway pri which is a new sch n just beside our new house coming next yr.

Any idea if i can register my boy at st hildas under phase 2A2 (12 july) first, then if we are guaranteed a place there, am i still able to proceed to Waterway pri (phase 2c wed 27th july) to register my boy if i find Waterway may be a better school for him? merkon:
Ginny, SHPS has 2 school counsellors if I'm not wrong. Pls do approach them as its better for them to have time to build rapport with your child first. Yes I worked with kids with SM before and it's great to know that yours received early intervention and is talking to some already. Actually lower primary kids are generally very kind and keen to help So bullying should not be too worrying in class. The school bus is another story as they mix with other levels. Told my son to read a book and look absorbed and try not to pay attention to the older boys conversations. (The older boys made fun of his name and stuff like that)

I'm not too sure of SHPS special arrangement but I believe most schools will take the psychologist n psychiatrist recommendation if suggested. With regards to speaking in front of class, I think all schools these days have different programs and show n tell if definitely a component in holistic assessment but the teacher will take a term at least to help the kid build up their show n tell and most definitely not in the first term.

CCA optional in p1 and p2, other levels strongly encouraged. School bus available for CCAs ending at 4pm, so you can opt for those if transport needed. I've got another kid going p1 next year, can PM me if you wanna ask more.

Thank u for the info Merkon! It really helps! :snuggles: Okie will pm u if i need to know more thank u!

Hi all! Registering my boy this yr too! In a dilemma coz I'm staying at tampines now and next to st hilda's pri (my alma mater) . However next year end we are shifting to punggol, and there is Waterway primary right beside our new place (-_-'') ... Any advice if i should place him in st hilda's or waterway pri? If don't put him in st hilda's pri like very wasted haha

My boy has Selective Mutism , an anxiety issue and won't speak to ppl in school... so afraid changing of school is too stressful for him...hai... headache....

Hi! my child is at St Hilda's too. I have friends children in Punggol studying in SHPS. They use the school bus. I'm staying in sk area. Daddy drives him to school in the morning and he buses back after school. Not sure if traveling is a concern for you.
I worked in schools previously and seen kids with selective mutism. There are kids who transited well from preschool to primary school as the child was well prepared for the transition. Please do check with the relevant schools if they have allied educators (counseling or learning & behavioral support) to help bridge your child before school starts. Sincerely hope a smooth transition for your child.

Yea im glad to hear that Merkon! Coz really worried and nervous for him as even though through regular therapy with psychiatrist, he only speaks to two teachers and selected friends in his preschool now. Afraid he will get bullied and not speak up. Yea will ask to speak to counsellor during registration and see if they are supportive.

U were saying you worked with kids with SM before? Any idea if they have special arrangement in class? as in like maybe seating position etc? Coz i understand shps has like frequent public speaking and show-n-tell sessions which i know my boy will not be able to speak.

My husband will drive him to school every morning n he will take the school bus home daily. Any idea if kids have cca after school, will there be transport home ? Coz next yr it will mean i have to travel from punggol to tampines to pick him . 😢 I told my hub why not just put him in Waterway pri beside our new place and since new school maybe not so stressful. He said siao got good school dun wanna put :frustrated:

Anyway all along i've been living beside shps . Just when my kid can go p1, i move to punggol. šŸ˜“

      :thankyou:

Anyone has kids in st hildas pri? Can share if it is very stressful for them? As it is a good school I’m just afraid it gets overwhelming for my boy who has an anxiety issue. And any after school care?
