My Son went into Tien Xia k1 at beginning this year, had about 8 lessons , last lesson I went to see him at “end of year review performance “”( per term is 11 lessons, last lesson is the performance only), aso at the 10 lesson he will have a test with marks to somehow grade him.
My Son failed badly bcoz prior to his he didn’t have any Chinese classes only in cc.
He had his first performance in Chinese, he manage to present a Chinese song individually but Chinese pronouncing is v poor but it’s a boast to his confidence.
He enjoys the class but however I withdraw him out and sent to him berries instead.
Now he is in berries but unfortunately he is v stressful when he in berries k1 until he cried almost every lesson and teacher tell me he anyhow complete his worksheet bcoz he dun understand .
I dropped him down to n2 berries now though he is 5 this year.
He enjoys the lessons more and happier( me and teacher feel so ).
Currently I intend to purchase some of the used berries books and self teach first few books of n2.
I hopefully he can returned back to k1 maybe in few mths time and able to upgrade to k2 next year.
Conclusion is : u must see how ur kid progress ,
And also start to self teach them Chinese at younger age.
I didn’t teach my Son to read Chinese words only beginning this year and he now he has to make up for the lost time.
But try to take it easy , teach them abit one or two days so they dun be too stress up
