      MyPillow:

      mummychia,

we went Vivaldi- there is gondola and kids area
btw, did the gapyeong circle bus go into Nami island direct or u still have to take ferry?
now that I got more time to study the train network, not that far like u said πŸ™‚

      mypillow
i also shortlist daemyung vivaldi park πŸ˜„ isit good? actually i shortlisted high 1, vivaldi pk, alpensia & konjiam.

no the gapyeong circle bus will only bring u to the wharf, u still have to take the ferry to nami coz its an island, but there's also zipwire which can bring u across but i'm too old for that haha...

      Mummychia,
Haha me too old for zip wire too. I prefer relax non adventurous holidays.

Vivaldi seems popular among locals, saw a lot of students coming to the ski sch so it is crowded. Gondola up is scenic. But the hotel tower I stayed quite far fr ski field. Must take shuttle bus down. Quite ok place. Mayb yongpyeong is bigger and more space.

Hmm… Also, if u think teacher incapable, why not feedback all the way up to MOE. Incompetent can be trained to up padaegogy. If teacher not suitable in the environment, and refuse to chg so that students can learn well, then this educator should bd transferred out of the sch.

But u can’t deny the std is high here compare to the rest of pri sch in this region. If the child cannot take it, parent dun like it. Transfer, why waste time here. Give the seat to other child or parent who are in the long Q.

I certainly agree not all teachers are competent nowadays. So which ever sch u go, will meet the incompetent educators again. Depend on luck too. And most sch put capable teachers strategically placed in top classes. Higher returns! So which class is the child in?
U want capable n committed teachers, mayb mission sch with strong religious belief .

Friendship, why u din get to see papers last time?

I get to see all papers since p1 &2alternative assessment / SA2. And this yr ,so far I had seen the CA 1 n SA1 papers. I had seen past yrs papers fr Henry park, rosyth, raffles ,catholic etc. I can say that the Rivervale standard is equivalent to theirs ans sometime even more difficult. Thus I am satisfied with the way papers are set in the school to challenge the kids. Looking at the paper, those kids who score full marks is indeed doing well.
It is gd to set high std fr test n exam from P3 onwards so the kids will not have a shock to face the Real PSLE. Top 2 classes seem to have different work books n work sheets for the kids to expose challenging questions compare to lower classes to concentrate in basic knowledge n easier sums.

      micollh,

based on my exp 3 yrs ago in korea, 2nd wk Jan- temp drop till -10C

U got to get thermal (inner wear) for kids - get those with mixture of wool and cotton so can at least protect till 0 degree. abt 40 plus a set depends on size.

2nd layer is a pull over - can be thick cotton
3rd layer is a good padded winter jacket
if weather is very cold esp in night and ski resort, 2nd layer need to be a wool sweater or fleece (cheaper)

Head and ears Must wear beannie to cover the ears

      Bottom
1st layer is thermal pants (as above)
2nd layer is wind proof active pants (gd to be water proof)

if wind not so chilly , u can wear jeans as 2nd layer

Actually, i feel the most unbearable is feet 😞 cos we did not invest in gd pair of boots ... the cold run up to the knees level fr below although we wore woolen socks .... tht was a horrible feeling. Consider l was with grp tour somost walking already minimised - but mountain gondola ride and morning/night ski really cold. walking on ice ground ... keke..

Wiser, you can put ur child in waiting list . Still got chance if the results are within Rivervale range. My friends children got in this yr , previous sch were Sk pri too.

Agree enrichment actitivits can tap on pupil edusave grant, so parent do not need to take out money at all. All pupils rich or poor are of equal opportunity to participate since can used edusave grant. Local pri child has $200 put in by govt annually to use on enrichment classes.
