RE: MPM Maths - Discussion
Hi Sir/Madam,
I am a parent of a 6 year old boy who was interested in the MPM Math course offered by MPM Math, Tampines Central.
I have a serious complaint to be made against the centre’s Centre Manager Ms.Christina Moh.
After couple of enquiries about the Math course for P1 level, over phone and in person, I finally decided to make my son, Karthik Suvan V. to take up the evaluation test supposed to be conducted today evening around 5.30 at Tampines Central centre. This was scheduled by the centre’s Centre manager, Ms.Christina Moh yesterday when i went for an enquiry to the centre.
And as per schedule i reached the centre earliest by 5.30 and found that Ms.Christina Moh was busy with a class distributing worksheets to students. We werent received by any staffs as there were none in the foyer. So, me and my son decided to wait until we were noticed by someone responsible. After about 10 mins, Ms.Christina Moh happened to see us and she hastily walked towards us and grabbed a file from the shelf and in some unclear words asked me to complete the registration form which she placed on the desk facing me. Little confused by her rush, as I was under the impression that there was a solicited appointment scheduled by her with me for a test, I was searching for the test paper and as the form looked like a registration form, I was mentally preparing for registering there first before my son could take up the test. Just before i began, she asked me about the mode of my payment for registration. I was surprised by this Question as I was under the impression that I could pay the fees upon registration which I thought of doing on the first day of the class which was on Tuesday (5 August 2014), the reason being as simple as me not prepared with the amount of SGD540 neither as cash nor in cheque at that moment.
So I began to try to explain her about my unpreparedness and hence I wouldnt be able to make the payment right away but to my dismay, her attitude left me speechless. Ms. Christina Moh snatched back the Registration form that was left on the desk for me to complete saying that "In that case You cannot register your son here," That left me stranded in nowhere suddenly, when all my mind and my son’s mind were set to go one step further in enrolling with MPM by taking up the test.
Overcoming my shock from her rude behaviour, I gathered my spirits and asked her if she can give me some time to fetch the cash or if she wills I could draw a cheque before the class so that my son could take up the test only today. Meanwhile I intended to withdraw the required cash and make the payment by the time my son finishes the test today itself. But instead i requested Ms.Christina Moh to behave patiently and kindly with me.
But she started to point fingers against me and raised her voice as if she withdrew away from me and she wont even consider in coming to any consensus with me for a smooth discussion. She seemed to be irritated by her own incapacitated handling ways with me due to her haste, that she had to rush back to the class as she was actually attending me in the middle of her ongoing class. I just plainly asked her why did she schedule the slot for the test with my son when she already had a class at the same time. She got further annoyed and walked away from me into the class which she deserted minutes ago and began screaming from inside that class to me to where i was standing, saying that she didn’t scream.
I warned her to behave with due respect with me only to more vain. So I had no choice but to leave the place without proceeding with enrolling my son.
When I was walking out of the centre, I saw another parent who happened to witness the scene, walking unto me and I heard her complaining about the centre Manager too. I learnt from her that she too was not interested in the classes anymore.
I am not able to take the insult the centre manager caused against me and my son, the way she took away the given form for filling, from me and the voice that she yelled at me never allowing me to talk, and the rudeness she showed to me not giving any choice for enrolling my son, troubles me a lot.
I’m deeply disturbed mentally and so is my son.
All her reactions is totally uncalled for, and could have been well avoided had she been little genuine in allotting appointments with potential customers viz, parents so that she could have been in a cool demeanour when handling parents like me.
Parents like me intend to enrol our kids in a reputed private enrichment programmes like MPM Maths, with loads of hopes, after allocating a certain fund against fees required for such courses.
So the staffs, and worse, the centre managers worrying and behaving so stubbornly with parents regarding such sources of payments really leave us no choice but to rethink about our decisions in enrolling our children in such programme.
I have brought this issue to the notice of the MPM Math Head Office and to all the franchises, to the notice of Ministry of Education(MOE) as well as to the notice of Council of Private Education (CPE), seeking proper action to be taken against the concerned centre manager, Ms. Christina Moh of Tampines Central branch MPM Math.
With Regards,
Gnani
