jpe:Hi ks2010 and jtoh, (I also posted this question in another thread, sorry for duplicated post)ks2010:
I just posted in the other thread. EESIS this year is 258. Confirmed. So expect to see a drop in COPs for the top tier IP schools.
Hope this helps all anxious parents in your school selection :
DC was offered EESIS with 257 (excluding HMT) along with results today
How is % of pupils receiving EESIS calculated. Saw one thread mentioning that it is top 3%, the top 3% means the top 3% who would receive EESIS award finally or is it top3% who received in the S1 option form?
based on the info from MOE website, top one-third of IS student will get it, if we have 420 places per school, and 12 IS school, there will be 1600 pupils will get the scholarship, ie. top 4% ( 42,000 total this year), but it can't guarantee every pupile who get EESIS in S1 Form will go IS school, so EESIS may grant more pupil to be eligible for EESIS, e.g. it may give award for 3000 pupils, ie. 6%. could you kindly explore it, many thanks.
Hi, I did some calculation regarding EESIS.
1. According to info from other thread, 3% of pupils are offered EESIS. This year, there are 43000 pupil sit for PLSE. 3% x 43000 = 1290
2. I have also checked student population of independent schools as follow:
ACS 125
HCI 400
Methodist Girl 410
NYGH 400
NUS High 170
RGS 400
RI 400
SOTA 200
SST 200
SCGS 400
Sports school 200
SJI 300
TOTAL: 3605
Assume that total intake of independent school is 3605, one third of them are offered EESIS: 3605 ÷ 3 = 1201
From method 1 and 2, we can conclude that about 1200 to 1300 of pupils are offered EESIS.
Others please commet on my calculation. Wish to listen to expert opinion regarding EESIS.
