Also met LSS at work before. Very down-to-earth and approachable person without air of arrogance. I believe he has more to contribute at MOM...it would be most unfortunate if EC residents vote him out to trade for the rookies. 😓

It would be PAP's own doing if LSS gets voted out. Part and parcel of GRC system.

      Hi,

My dad is a businessman and he is 70+. ......

....These few years, the business has not been doing good .....

....I need him to support me with my finance situation but he refuse ...

      agreed with jetsetter

It is your dad's call what he wants to do with his money. It is his money.

Family ties are more important than money. Don't spoilt the relationship over $$. If you really need him to help you financially, be open and he would probably do so, after all you are his DD.

祖国 doesn't necessarily mean China. It means a country founded by a person's ancestors. 祖先的國家

For a China Chinese, 祖国 implies China
For a Singaporean, 祖国 is Singapore.

Good Luck to all parents for Day 2 especially my friends applying for Ngee Ann n Tao Nan.

Was told that ballotting expected in Tao Nan.
So parents considering Tao Nan-please do make your other choice school asap.

Personally for me I would rather take a safer route;I.e. register at a confirmed school rather than take the risk at ballot n not knowing the certainty of the outcome.

      All the best!

      :goodpost:

which school did both of you apply? 😄
not all schools will accept you as PV also... still have to depend if the school wants you or not! i stay opp SCGS and was rejected as PV. now i can only apply for phase 2C... which will likely have to go for balloting!

Schools reject applications because they do not wish to disappoint parents later when they get balloted out in Phase 2B. The problem is the high TUR in Phase 2A. Cap Phase 2A and the problem could be mitigated.

Well Phrase 2B also have an unknown factor in the grassroot and clan/ associations priority. I feel for those PV who been denied a space due to this, esp the grassroots and clan priority.
so it is ok to be denied if it is due to religion? :scratchhead:

      Homework policy of AiTong:

      1. There will be one ‘no homework day’ per week for all pupils. Wednesday will be the ‘no homework’ day. This mid-week break aims to help pupils ease and manage their workload and school activities better for the week.

      2. Recognizing the important need for young children to spend quality time with their family, we will protect the pupils’ school and public holidays. The protected time is also to allow our children to pursue knowledge and learning beyond the academics. In view of this, the following shall be implemented:
      (a) Homework shall not be issued before any major nationally recognized public holiday.
      (b) Homework shall not be issued for school holidays: March, June, September and December.
Every Wed is 'No homework day' for Ai Tong School.
No wonder everyone wants to get into the school..hahaha..
But I think it's really good..give the poor kids a break

      :goodpost:

This is a very good practice! Parents should lobby principals to implement at their kids school . Of course , don't say it is from Ai Tong..
Principal of 'good' school also want face..

Pls do share more good practice of elite schools

Whole heartedly agree with her. Ngee Ann seems to provide more support for the children, based on feedback that i received.

I am sure that a lot of the parents aiming for Tao Nan under phase 2C will agree with you.

Reduce the teacher child ratio will result higher fee. Are parents willin to pay a premium for it?

There are premium Childcare offering low teacher child ratio.

good point. those who could afford have opted with their wallets. i think those who are uncomfortable with paying more are stuck with schools with higher teacher child ratio. should the government put money into private sector to improve teacher child ratio. touchy question.

as touchy as asking them to give $$$ to profit-oriented public transport companies to improve service.

Dismissal is too light a punishment for her. She should be jailed.

Police are still investigating. If found to be guilty, she will be punished according to law.

Too early to conclude that she had done so intentionally. Let police do their job.
