Linaaa\" post_id=\"1960189\" time=\"1579606578\" user_id=\"180798:

My daughter is complaining of muscle cramps after her session yesterday. What do you usually do to ease the pain?

How old is your daughter and how many classes does she have in a week? Mine complained of muscle sores few years ago and I was told by the teacher that it was common after they did some \"difficult\" stretching. Nevertheless, I still brought her to a nearby GP and he gave her a muscle ointment to ease the pain. Daily stretching also helps a lot. Hope she's getting better!

Thanks a lot Xuanting!

I googled some ballet forums and apparently Vaganova curriculum itself starts only for 10 yr old and older dancers. Before that the classes are for building basics and pre-conditioning to prepare the students for the real Vaganova.

I guess since my knowledge is limited, probably it’s best to stick with RAD. As you were saying it’s indeed easier to find youtube videos for my child to learn from.

Any of your children here going to smaller school? DD is currently joining this school with many branches across the island and I’m thinking to move her to a smaller school (personal preference). 2 names that looks promising are Palais Dance and Young Dancer Academy in Ghim Moh. Anyone’s got any experience there?

Hi all ballet moms and dads 🙂

DD is currently in grade 1 RAD ballet and she enjoys it very much. At the moment she takes 2 x 1 hr class per week. However something that made me feel quite uncomfortable happened. So DH and I think it's probably time to move to another studio.

I'm fine with RAD system, but I've been reading about Vaganova/Russian based curriculum. Apparently not many ballet schools in Singapore doing this. One school that's quite close to our place is the Little Dance Academy in Pandan Gardens.

Does anyone have any comment on that school? And what kind of difference should I expect between RAD vs Vaganova system in Singapore (learning environment, opportunity to pursue higher education in Ballet, scholarship opportunities, etc)

Thanks!

• RE: All About Pri 1 Registration for Foreigners & Phase 3

Hi there, happened to know some foreigners applying for their children last year so I’ll share what I know here.

Yes. Parents of foreigner kids will have to submit all documents to primary schools that open for phase 3. However this is merely for administration purpose. There’s NO guarantee that the children will be accepted in the schools where they submit their application.
What will happen is, schools will only act as coordinator for phase 3 application process, then the names of students will be pooled by MOE, and MOE will decide which school each applicant will be assigned to.

I honestly have no information regarding schools’ role in the selection process, but just to give some illustration. My friend lives nearby Bukit Gombak MRT, applied to Lianhua Pri (<1 km), but at the end her son was placed in Teck Whye Pri (2 km). Another friend who also live around Bishan applied to Guangyang pri, but got assigned to Sengkang area (can’t remember the school name)

• RE: All about FUN & *FREE* places to go in Singapore

Thanks Chief for starting the thread.. :salute: Really useful info.

Since I live in the West, my to-go places are usually:
- Bukit Timah Nature Park
- Bukit Batok Nature Park (playground with sands)
- Hiking along the old railway tracks from Hillview to Buona Vista (recommended for 5+ yo kids as tracks can be muddy and probably rough for younger kids)
- Cycling/rollerblading/scooter-riding along the PCN, must-do: take pictures at Ulu Pandan Park Connector
- Treehouse playground @Westgate. There's a small waterplay area too
- New playground at Jurong Lake area
- Kids section at Jurong Regional Library. They've just had a refurbishment so it looks more attractive for younger kids now.

Hummm... those are the ones that come to mind.

• RE: Club 2010 Kids

Hi all,

Got a 2010-born girl at home, a super talkative one :). Glad to find this forum. Next year we'll be in the crazy P1 registration and since I'm a newbie, hopefully I could get some insight/learn the tips and tricks about pri sch preparation from the moms and dads here.

• RE: Bukit View Primary

Hi everyone,

I noticed that this thread has been inactive for a while, so I hope anyone will see this and revive this thread.
DD is about to get to pri sch in 2017 so I think it's not too late to check on schools ;). I live nearby BVPS and Keming but since Keming has always had balloting so I guess BVPS gives better chance -please correct me though!

So as parents of BVPS pupils could you share your opinion about:
1. Teachers, how is the teaching style, how is the teacher-parents communication, etc.
2. Academic achievements, are you satisfied with the school academically? Are your children enjoying school?
2. CCA and facilities, classroom/arts/sports facilities
Please add if you have other things to tell. Thanks!
