I think second round is the final round. Based on previous experience, the names for those shortlisted and waitlisted will be published on the notice board for all CCA before the submission so that the girls can make informed decision.

10 people boarded a bus at the first stop. At second bus stop, 2/5 of the passengers alighted. At the third bus stop, 2/3 of the passengers alighted and 5 boarded. There were 15 people in the bus when it left the third bus stop. How many passengers are there in the bus when it first started.

      Suggested answer:

At first, assuming passengers = 5 units
At 1st stop, 10 passengers boarded.
      When left the 1st stop, passengers = 5 units + 10

At 2nd stop, 2/5 passengers alighted.
When left the 2nd stop, passengers will be
      (5 units + 10) x 3/5 =
      3 units + 6

      At 3rd stop, 2/3 passengers alighted & 5 boarded
When left the 3rd stop, passengers will be
      (3 units + 6)/3 +5
      = 1 unit + 7

      1 unit + 7 = 15
      1 unit = 8
      5 unit x 8 = 40
At first, there are 40 passengers in the bus

      angel:
7/9 of M's salary was twice of A's salary. The ratio of A's salary is to S's salary was 14:5. How much was M's salary if 3 of them have a total salary of $3080?

      Suggested answer

      Assuming M's salary = 18 unit (9 x 2)
      7/9 of M's = 14 units
      Therefore, A's salary will be 7units (14 unit/2)

      M's : A's
      18 : 7 or
      36 : 14

      A's : S's
      14 : 5

      Total salary will be,
      36 unit + 14 unit + 5 unit
      = 55 unit

      55 unit = $3080
      1 unit = $56

      M's salary will be
      36 units x $56
      = $2016

      SOS mum:
Hi, please help. Many thanks and God Bless:)

      3) Simon and Peter had a total of 900 cards. Simon gave 1/5 of his cards to Peter. Peter then gave 1/4 of his cards to Simon. In the end, each of them had the same number of cards. How many cards did Simon have at first?
      Suggested answer:
      At the end,
Simon and Peter each has 450 cards.
Peter has ¾ of the new card balance (ie. including 1/5 from Peter)
      \t
      Working backward,
      ¾ of Peter’s new card balance = 450
Peter’s new card balance will be,
      450 x 4/3 = 600.
After giving 1/5 of his card to Peter, Simon has 4/5 of his initial cards or 300 cards (900-600) left.
      If 4/5 of Simon’s initial card = 300,
      Simon’s initial card will be 300 x 5/4 = 375.

At first, Simon has 375 cards.
