hi,

may i know which chinese instrument easier to learn - guzheng or yangqing ?

      Hi,
I know it wont be fair for me to say which is easier to learn since I've never tried yangqing before, so cant make a comparison... I think both instruments should be easy enough. One of my student is even a five year old, so no worries, at least I can tell you guzheng is easy, even a five year old can understand this traditional instrument^^

      cheers šŸ˜„
You also learnt from Mr. Thum?

Do you happen to be from PLMGS?
Hi!
Glad to receive your reply! šŸ˜„
Yes, I learnt from Mr Thum from Secondary one. I had private lessons at Artstratosphere since then and just stopped my lessons at the start of the year. I am not from PLMGS. I'm from Xinmin Secondary School. Hope to hear from you.

      Cheers! šŸ˜„

      Poonie:
It's been about 4 months since I started this forum. Let me update you on what has happened since. Finally I enrolled my 2 girls in guzheng lessons at a CC and they started their 1st lesson last Sunday. After the lesson, they commented that guzheng is easier than piano. After the 10 lessons I would probably like to get them a private tutor as I find it a hassle packing up the instruments for 2 children at the end of the lesson. Does anyone have any good recommendations for private teacher? Someone has quoted me $50 per 45 mins. Is that too expensive

On piano, my girls are still continuing but I am thinking of getting a new teacher who have different teaching methods. Has anyone heard of Prelude Music at Novena? Some feedback will be much appreciated.

      Hi!

I know it's beeen a long time since you added this post. I'm Regina. I am currently waiting for the release of my GCE olevel results. I have been learning guzheng since I was in Primary 2,that will be about 9 years. I am a certified grade 8 'guzhengist' from Artstrophere. I am currently teaching guzheng in 2 Primary schools and I was the President of my secondary school's guzheng ensemble this year, in which we achieved Gold with Honours for SYF 2009. Though I may be less experienced than those professional guzheng instructor, I am confident to give in my best, just like how I had coach my younger sister for her guzheng grading examinations, that she achieved distinction for grade 4 last year, and a high merit for grade 6 this year. If you are still interested. I teach private guzheng lessons at reasonable prices, $20-$28 per hour, depending on the grade.(the lower the grade, the cheaper it is)

In addition, I also offer services such as the changing of broken guzheng strings and the tuning of guzheng. So if you do need help in these, do approach me. šŸ™‚

      Hope to hear from you!
