@zeemimi: Project Work is marked and graded largely by tutors of one’s own college - which may involve intervention in the form of moderation by internal and/or external moderators. For confidentiality reasons, I will not be elaborating further here, except to add on that there are various components for PW. With the exception of Paper 4 (SPA), the marking is not handled by their own college staff, which is contrary to PW.

@likestolaugh: What are your child's expectations? What is a good JC to both your child and yourself? With varying opinions, it would be great to hear yours first before we can pitch in with our recommendations and options! πŸ™‚

@zbear: No problem! Don't forget that the markers are quite different for the general GCE 'A' levels for the majority of the papers vs. Project Work! πŸ™‚

When will the PW results be released? Is it immediately after the A Level Results?

It was done on 14 April for the year 2014, approximately in mid of Term 2.

'A' level results were released in 03 March for the same year.

Happiness is a state of mind:
Hi, My girl has been accepted by cchm. We stay in AMK central. Any idea if there are any bus service to cchm from AMK and how long is the journey?

My girl was in Chinese Dance for 6 years in primary school. She is considering switching to Choir. How is Choir as a CCA in cchm? What's the schedule like?
You can take MRT from AMK to Dakota station (Circle Line), then walk for 5 minutes along the canel to the back gate, it's very near.

I'm not too sure about the Choir experience in CCHMS but I do know that during my time those who had experience in primary school would be selected for an audition, and if you pass it you're in!

CCHMS scored a Gold for SYF Central Judging in 2011.

Helping a friend to ask, is there any sch bus transport from CCH main to Everton park?
Can walk to Northlight School via back gate and take bus service 30 to Everton Park, or walk to opposite TKGS and take bus service 10 or 197!

Must DS wear uniform on Monday ?
Not sure about the details but logically speaking they wouldn't expect students to buy their uniforms so soon! First few days should still be okay to wear primary school attire or otherwise.

Am a graduate from CCHMS (currently in JC)! Feel free to enquire about any matters of your interest! πŸ™‚

Do our parents need to come with us to posted Sec School on 23 Dec?

Strictly speaking, no, if I'm not wrong. But you'll definitely see a lot of them because there'll be talks that are catered for parents to address certain administrative matters. Moreover, it's a new environment and it might be overwhelming for some.

      chanelprincess34:
Just checking.... If I don't intend to let son apply for SAP school, is it advisable not to take up HCL ?

It would still be advisable if let's say it's your son's interest, and also the fact that there will be less for him to juggle in his first year of JC (that is, if that's where he wants to be). I have seen many of my peers having too many things on their hands during their J1 years, and having to study H1 Chinese alongside with 3H2 + 1H1 + CCA + new environment is really too much for some. But do check how much effort the school puts in for their HCL students.

Would like to know what is the banding for Chung Cheng main and how many percent of its cohort go to the top 5 jcs in 2013? Which jcs do most of its students go to traditionally? thanks

CCHS(M) is in the 2nd band if I'm not wrong.

I'm not sure of the exact percentage but based on my experience most of my seniors went to NYJC (the most for their batches), MJC, TJC, VJC.

For my batch it was the same except that most went to MJC instead because NYJC's COP improved by 1 point for both Science and Arts stream. The next in line would be TJC I guess.

      gtayc:
can someone share how much to give for pocket money ?

Hi gtayc! I'm a J1 student (J2 next year) who's surviving on just $2.00 per day for 1 meal during lunch (rice + 2 vegetable + 1 fish/meat). The more expensive stalls such as the Western one sells theirs at an average of $3.50. The drinks are reasonably priced as well ranging from $1.00 - $2.50.

Though if your son/daughter dines at the hawker centre opposite College, it would be advisable to give around $5.00 because the food there is selling at prices approximately $3.00 - $5.00.
