      Thank you for your reply!

      What is SYF?

CCA is from P2 or P3?

I’d like to ask HGS parents regarding CCA and D3T2.

My daughter is P2 this year and saw the letter says P2& P3 parents are invited to CCA Carnival tomorrow.
      CCA start from P2?
What is the difference CCA and D3T2?
As for D3T2, you can join only by invitation?
      Please advise me!

skyjp, yes, I agree with you the difference is not so big in the end.

I can say that Haig Girls PSLE result is really not bad.

I went to the Open House of Haig Girls, and I was impressed with the cosy environment and happy& confident girls.
I think their curriculum is attractive, too.

However, I still cannot decide either Haig Girls or Ngee Ann because Ngee Ann is affiliated to Ngee Ann Secondary.
I do not have to get worried so much of PSLE as long as my daughter is \"average\" in the school.

Same here, soooo hard to make a dicision by next week...

Anyway, I am within 1km to Haig Girls and 1-2km to Ngee Ann.
I will see how is the first day of registration since Ngee Ann seems to be popular this year.

      skyjp:
This does make the diff but at the same time, looking at this, the percentage that falls between 188-200 might be only a small fig too. Which again makes it hard for us to decide.

I am also like you and Soto Ayam, trying to decide which school to put my girl in. Am counting down to the date now but my heart is still so unsettled.

As my girl went to Haig Girls during open house she likes their arts but not being able to see CHIJ KG makes it a unfair fight for it. Haig is within 1km of our place now and CHIJ KG is 1.09km.....

Really it is such a headache.

wiltanws, thank you for the info!

I could find the other good news from the link you gave us 😄

\"About 13% of our pupils had an aggregate score of 250 and above.\"

      wiltanws:
      quixation:

Does anyone knows the breakdown of sec schools entered by last year PSLE students in Hiag girls?

There's no detail breakdown, the following are the info available extracted from http://www.haiggirls.moe.edu.sg/qql/slot/u240/Our%20Partners/Parents/Notifications/Term%201%20Notification%20&%20Calendar%20of%20Events.pdf

About 13% of the pupils were offered places via Direct School Admission (DSA) at secondary schools such as Dunman High School, Methodist Girls School, Paya Lebar Methodist Girls Secondary, Raffles Girls School, School of the Arts, School of Science & Technology, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, Tanjong Katong Girls’ School and Temasek Junior College.

      Thank you for the information!

I have never realized the differences!

I looked the school web site again after seeing your post.
      Yes, CHIJ Katong is using
\"% eligible for the Express Stream (w/o Exp/N(A))\",
On the other hand, Haig Girls is
\" eligible for the Express Course (with Exp/N(A))\".

I do not understand there is any Express course with Normal??

For example, Ngee Ann shows only \"Eligibility for Express\".
Anybody knows this is only Express or including Normal?

I think the cut off point of 188 and 200 is quite big different to consider.

Please help me to make a right decision!!

      soto_ayam:
Hi All - I just wanted to share that there some schools may be using different cut off points when posting PSLE results on their website so always good to check back on the school's website. I noticed for example that the Haig Girls' website indicates a percentage of girls eligible for Express Stream or Normal Academic. I called the school and they confirmed they use a cut off point of 188 for their statistics on their website.

CHIJ Katong indicate on their website % of students eligible for Express Stream (without Normal Academic) & therefore use a cut off point of 200. I also called the school to confirm this. I know this may seem very obvious to those experienced parents but I thought it was worth sharing as I saw in an earlier thread these 2 figures being compared against each other , but actually the basis for their figures is slightly different.

Hope that helps any parents out there !

It is good to know that the dance teacher I saw is an external instructor.

Other thatn that, my daughter and I liked the school.
I heard from one of the parent volunteers, the current principal has improved many things.

I wen to to Ngee Ann Open House, too.

Everything seems to be ok, but I was quite shocked to see the teacher shouting to girls in the music room… which should be Chinese Dance CCA.
The teacher was too rough and called the girls "Hey, Aunty, understand?"…

I think all of the Ngee Ann teachers are not like that, but Haig Girls may be a better choice for my daughter after visiting both schools.

Only thing I am still considering NAPS is affiliation with Ngee Ann secondary.

      sugarpie2honey,

Thank you for the detail about CCA.
Both of your children are so good that they were invited!
Regarding CCA, Ngee ann and Haig girl seem to be equally good…
How should I make a dicision for my dd next year, anyway thanks a lot!!

      sugarpie2honey,

Thank you for your data! How did you find the info? from their website?

Ngee Ann and Haig Girl are still my choices for my daughter, but recently my friend told me Ngee Ann is better because it is affiliated with Ngee Ann secondary.
If my child did very well in PSLE as she could get more than 250, it does not matter. But if she did not, the advantage could make a big difference.

What abou CCA? May I know P1 students can start CCA in Ngee Ann or Haig Girl?
It seems like Haig Girl has more selections.
What do you think? I want my dd to enjoy activities other than studying.

      sugarpie2honey,

      Thank you for sharing!
HGS is better in PSLE results… I still have one year to consider which school is better for my dd.
      Thank you!
