RE: Teaching Chinese at Home
Thanks Brenda10. I typed 马小跳in dangdang to check out the book but there were a few listed under same title so I thought better check with KSP.
I will take a trip to Popular and get one as recommended. Is there a first book to the series or I can just get any titles?
Thanks again, you’ve been a great help! -
RE: Teaching Chinese at Home
I’m interested to get 马小跳for my ds but I’m not sure which is the one that is recommended here. Appreciate if someone could provide me with a link to this book in dangdang.
Thanks in advance -
RE: All About Chinese Speech & Drama
I enquired with Han Language at Fu Lu Shou after reading MMM's recommendation for Mdm Koh's chinese speech and drama class. It seems her class sessions are pretty limited as she is the only popular s&D teacher there.
I was told that she has a sunday 12pm class starting soon consisting of her existing students and some new students. However, the timing was not good for me. I left my number with them hoping for her to start a new class. And I got good news just yesterday that there is a possibility of a new class on saturday either 11am or 2.30pm. Right now, there are 3 students on the list. If she can get 6 students, she will start this new class.
Those of you who are interested, please consider. I am really hoping for 3 more students to sign up.
Btw, this is for primary 1 level. -
RE: Recommended English Books
Thanks mrswongtuition and TAS! Your input is invaluable!
I posted this question in another thread as I didn’t know where to begin. hermes173 (whom I realised is also in this thread!) also shared about contextual clues and inference.
I am in a better position to coach my son! Thank you, all! -
RE: All About Grooming & Encouraging Good Reading Habits
Hi hermes173,
Thank you for the advice and suggestion! Greatly appreciated!
We were reading half way thru the book when I realised he may not know the meanings of some of the words. So I started him with looking up the meanings of these words and writing them down. However, I realised it doesn't seemed effective and like you mentioned, he seemed to be losing interest in the story.
Fortunately, its not too late to get back to enjoying the story!
Thanks again! -
RE: Recommended English Books
Hi TAS,
I’m not sure where to post this question or if this question has been posted b4. I’ll like to know what is the best way to help my son (k2) understand new words that he comes across when reading.
I’m currently reading "The Little Wooden Horse" with him and I’m not sure if I’m using the correct method of asking him to:
1)underline words that he does not understand
2)Check the meaning of the new word in the dictionary
3)Write it down in a word bank book including the meaning
I’m wondering if this method of halting and continuing with the reading is disrupting the flow of the story as he reads.
Also, how best to help him use these new words/vocabulary.
Appreciate your comments! -
