Is any any good GP book to recommend for preparation for GP during the holidays. My dd is in IP, JC1 next year. Is the book ‘GP power’ by Robert Wilks good?

Also dd is planning to choose 3H2 1H1 combi: H2 PCM H1 General studies in Chinese. Will this be a good combi? Her Chinese is good, better than English but need to put in effort for H2 Mathematics. She is planning to focus on PCM with this combi. This is what she has thought and said. Parents take on this?

Hi, I need some help with planning my Expository essay. The question given is: How, and in what areas, can Singapore do better in the next 10 years?

My understanding of this question is that I am purposed to write arguments about different aspects (economy and social, for example) that Singapore can and will be able to improve in the next ten years time. That will mean that my counter argument&rebuttal paragraph will be talking about what Singapore will not be able to improve in the next ten years (that means that the problem could not be solve in ten years time with reasons such as it will take a longer time, etc) and rebut with reasons like improvements are made more rapidly in shorter period of time and thus may be able to improve in ten years time.

Or should it be arguments about areas to improve and counter argument about what should not be improved and rebut about how a country should improve as the rest of the world will improve. This one is strange so I dont really think so…

Or is there other ways to interpret this question? Thank you!

2) SO2(g) + 2H2S(g) –> 2H2O(l) + 3S(s)
3) Cl2(g) + 2H2O(l) + SO2(g) –> 2HCl(aq) + H2SO4(aq)

a) From the equations given, deduce which of the three gases: chlorine, hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide is the strongest
i) Oxidation agent
ii) Reducing agent

b) State how you arrive at your answers.

Q2) Disproportionation is a reaction in which the same element is both oxidized and reduced in a reaction.
Explain why the following reaction is a disproportionation reaction.
Cl2 + 2NaOH –> NaCl + NaOCl + H2O

(Oxidation state of NaOCl is not balanced? Na is +1, O is -2 and Cl is -1?? I find this a bit strange…)

To all 2015 Year Ones:

Welcome to the Dunmanian family! I know many of you are excited to start your secondary one life so there's a few things to start you off. School starts on 5 January 2015, 8am. Remember to wear your tie! There will be student facilitators at the foyer and the library area, I believe to lead you guys to your respective classrooms. I believe you guys will be asked to reach the school at 7.30am but no worries, it's just to facilitate the process of bringing you ppl fo the classroom. If you are early, just wait at the foyer, do not try and explore the school because you will definitely get lost. Flag Raising will be held in the school hall, and school song will be played but no worries if you can't sing along Next up will be the badge pinning ceremony, the first and only badge pinning ceremony in DHS! Relax, enjoy and follow instructions. Parents may want to consider giving your child $25 as allowance on the first week of school as they might want to try out all 16 stores in canteen and also the cafe food. However, I feel that $15-$20 per week is enough to survive two meals per day.I will recommend stall 13 as the ahma is really nice after buying food from her for 3 years. I think that year one students will not need to buy any assessment books or require any tuition s looking for teachers for consultation is normal for Dunmanians. Study hard, always do your homework and clarify doubts. Emailing teachers or approaching them to book consultation slots will be the best way a student can get help with his academics. If parents feel that your child requires more practice, email the respective subject teachers to get information and recommendations of what assessment books to buy, etc. Textbooks are rarely used in Dunman High as most will be used as self studying so there's really no need to bring all the books you have bought to school when lessons start officially like how students used to do in primary school. Teachers may require notebooks and files to be bought and varies from teacher to teacher. So don't panic if kids from other classes use different files, have different ways of teaching and of the different speed. Of course it will be good to check from time to time what are students from other classes taught and share information with one another. Pick a cca that you like and be committed to it. I will advice you guys to just follow what you want and if at any point of the time you feel that tou have lose passion in it, it is okay to transfer. However, please do not follow the transfer trend without considering what you really want from a CCA. To be honest, I was super passionate with my CCA at the start and was so happy that I was accepted. However, things did not go the way I want it to be. I didnt make any friend from my CCA, trust me, friends are important in CCA and I didn't get what I initially wanted which resulted in me having a hard time trying to accept and make do. It was hard especially when I have no friends, less passion and result in less commitment. Things did change for the better from encouragements given by seniors and teachers but it didn't make me fee any happier. But, all these are really up to you! Most of my friends really love their CCAs and some who had transferred were happier after doing so. Third Language is also the same thing. Friends, commitment, passion. If you realised that keeping awake in lessons is a problem, you are too tired. Try adjusting your schedule but if you really can't, you have to do something to it. I don't mean giving up but to see if there are ways that you can find to help you. Sometimes it is not really about managing your time but the approach you use towards certain things may be time consuming. Of course, going to the teachers or counselor will be the best way. Last but not least, enjoy and work hard!

I need carpooling for DD1 to Dunman High too. Any parent who happens to have children studying in DHS?

Should be 7.40am next year… But DD said becuz of the thumbprint scanning system(there are 4/5 but crowds are unavoidable), students will need to arrive much earlier to avoid the crowd so the ideal timing will be around 7.20am. Sometimes I think technology doesn’t make things convenient for students…
