Wow this level if dislike for the school is indeed disheartening anc dusturbing...i have nothing but gratefulness to Cath High for my DS time there... may you should look at alternative... the toxicity is not good for everyone...

Agree. Didn't expect such display of 'dislike' for CHS. Was really worried about placing it as 1st and 2nd choice.

IJ Toa Payoh has a very strong school culture. You can follow their school instagram account and have a sense of the various school activities. This is such a difficult choice! My daughter is interested in performing arts and she is interested in CHIJ sec dance, but she is bad at English , she is more interested in math and science which Anderson focuses on. It may be easier to integrate into Anderson Sec as in IJ TP many of the girls are from IJ TP primary.

However, having said that my daughter and her friends from non-affiliated schools integrated very well in IJ TP.

I suppose expect the usual problems found in all-girls mission school (talk incessantly, etc, etc) and a co-ed school ( I see some of them pair up nicely at AMK area :evil: ).

In terms of O levels, both perform very well...with IJ TP being a value-added school, since many IJ primary girls don't 'stretch' themselves at PSLE...thru' train for them of sort

Triple Sciences class subject combination streamimg, at the end of Year 2 (Sec 2) exam, is

at least 75 marks (A1) for Maths, plus another 75 marks (A1) for Science,
as well as overall : is it 70 or 75 percent overall ?

The overall defined here :
does it include languages (English and Chinese), as well as also include Combined Humanities, of which Social Studies is compulsory, while the other remaining Humanities subject can be History / Geography / English Literature, depending on the interests and strength(s) of individual pupil (student).

A1 : 75 and above

A2 : 70 to 74

haha...along those guidelines. I understand from my daughter that not all top students at the end of Sec 2 want to do triple
Science, so the class size is rather small. Some top performing students are invited to do triple Science, on top of Social Studies & selective, and another humanities. Prior to my daughter's batch, the school had 2 classes doing triple Science and two humanities. Perhaps as mentioned by other forummers, triple Science isn't very popular these days. My daughter isn't the most inquisitive learner, so I thought the exposure to 3 Sciences and 2 humanities was good for her. Keeps her busy and occupied.

Social Studies is offered at Sec 3, with an elective. Initially the offered elective for my daughter's class was Literature and Pure Geography. However, parents petitioned and so some girls did elective History (with Social Studies) and Literature. I thought the school was rather responsive. I am not sure if this is still the practice.

My daughter has given me the wrong infor about tripsci class size next yr.
G8 to kn her class size will be smaller next yr.

My daughter just finished her O level exam. I hope my information is accurate. Generally class size varies from 28? to 35, depending on subject combination.

Although many girls are from IJ TP primary, the mean/median T-score is around 235-239 during my daughter's time (when such information were available). And at Sec 3, 5 classes offered pure sciences and 8 subjects, while 2 classes offered combi science (and perhaps 7 subjects). I thought the school tries hard to give the girls choices in their subject combination, so as to nurture their interests. My daughter has good friends from ALL classes.

My only issue with this school is C H I N E S E. Only a few students doing HMT.
