Students who learn algebra normally from tuition centre. Disadvantage from people who lack of resource to learn.
Since all learn model drawing and it is invented by Singapore, probably ask students to follow.
It is like learning how to drive a car. If you don’t want to follow the instruction like instead of turning your head to check blind spot, you turn your eye ball, then you will probably fail even both are effective.

RE: Transferring Secondary School at Sec 2
There is quite a handful of IP students taking O level as private candidate.
It is another way to transfer to another JC of your choice at sec4. But again, majority did not do well enough as a private candidate to go to a better JC.
Nevertheless, some of them leverage 4 point deduction doing 3rd language and CCA to get into the better JC. -

For IP program, normally you cannot transfer in sec1. you can only request end of next year. You need to sit their entry paper and I can tell you is tough unless you are very good.
Hello everyone, I am a Secondary 1 student studying in VS IP programme. I would like to apply for transfer to either ACSI and RI IP. I managed to attai. the COP for ACS but did not get in and got 7 so was unable to qualify for RI. Any advise on how to proceed? I'm just asking for procedure coz my mind is made up already thanks -

If mc oral, tiagong need to go designated centre to take. But actual PSLE paper MC, will base on your prelim and school factor.
No. MOE will not use the same questions. In fact, I don’t think there’s a retest date. Children who are absent for PSLE oral or any paper will not get to take it. MOE has its own method to calculate and generate the children’s scores.
If you did well for Prelim, well, probably taking MC on actual day is a good choice. -

You have to understand what he is weak in?
Hi,
Sorry to tap on this thread. I’m desperately looking for a English tutor who can come to my place (Bukit Batok) to focus on my son who is taking PSLE next year. He is relatively weak (AL6) and v worried as his current online tutor advises me to find a 1-1 tutor that can come down to my place so that he has the attention to brush up on English. Appreciate if u can pm me if u know of any good English tutor. Thank you very much!
Don’t waste time attending a tuition focusing on all topics. Be focus. If he can’t write a good compo, send him to tuition focusing on compo. -
RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting
True, for the appeal case, since it is under the mercy of the principal and it is not transparent, indirectly, corruption will come in if the principal is not careful. maybe, this is where the rich and powerful will get favouritism, or maybe not. Only god’s know.
Well, nothing much you can do. Just study hard and move on. Even if you meet the COP, there are many people appealing with a better AL in front of you especially in those popular school. Good luck. -
RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting
Anyway, for appeal case, I believe the principal did not look at nationality. Purely AL score and merit. It is not transparent and any decision is final.
Good for the PR and foreigner who lose out in the S1 posting. -

For appeal, I believe the decision is more on merit that Singaporean first and the outcome cannot be appeal.
Is any one has past experience or any info that got successful in appeal with MGS?
My DD got AL7 and we are PR. Her dream school is MGS but we couldnt dare enough to keep MGS as first choice because of its indicative AL6.
Now, we appealed to MGS. Hoping to hear good news. -

Affiliation and DSA, these 2 occupy the most slot in those popular schools. Because of Singaporean first in sec1 posting, I saw a pike in PR and foreigner already ramp up their kids in sport and other activities, for the sake of DSA.
With TJC at AL8 now, those without MTL having scored AL1 for EL, AL1 Math and AL1 for Sc but got to be assigned AL6 for exempted MTL effectively would now be AL9 and has no IP school since no HCL for RVHS. They got to either DSA or try to transfer to IP school at end of Sec 1 or Sec 2 if they are still able to continue excelling in their other secondary level subjects -

Precisely, but this is not what many parents are thinking. Look how much they spend on the sport or enrichment, making sure their kids can get into top school thru DSA even though the result merely make it.
AL9 is still a very good score. Target the schools which are open to your child, and not the ones which are taken up by the top scorers, and you will be fine.
Remember, your child is the MOST important, NOT the school. Imagine yourself being surrounded by people all smarter than you. That is how your child feels if he gets into a school that is beyond his intellect, and he has to feel this everyday for at least 4 years  Isn't it better than he gets into a school where he and his friends are of the same wavelength, and the teachers are all tuned to his frequency?
