      Hi Happymom2,

Just wondering if there is a list of books/items that we need to pack for our DD's first day at school? Maybe I overlooked but I do not recall seeing anything mentioned in the files that we received during the orientation....

      Thanks.

      Hi,

I went to the MCS bookshop yesterday (26 Dec) and from the 5 out-of-stock items, only the Maths Builder 1A is in stock - P1 parents, do take note that this book is required for DD's first day at school. The other items for P1 are still out of stock, i.e. FTGP, Helpmate, Maths Builder 1B and MPH Handwriting. The bookshop staff mentioned that Maths Builder 1B will only be available in Apr/May 2013 - apparently this info was from the publisher.

      Hi agehachou,

Yes, there's a list of books required for first day of school - the info is in the \"P1 Orientation Information Booklet\" that we received on orientation day. Look under \"Day One in School/Books to be handed in on the first day\".

      Hi,
As i am a student there ( Not going to be anymore), there IS a colour group for the P.E. shirts. You should know which \"House\" your child is in on the day of the orientation. From there you will know what colour P.E. shirt to purchase.
      Regards,

      Hi Happymom2,

My DD is currently with the Student Care Centre. Overall I'm pretty happy with them, most of the teachers are very kind & passionate. Feel free to pm me if you have any further enquries.

      Hi!

Thanks very much for your feedback. We went to check out the student care centre today and spoke with one of the staff. Also had the chance to observe the girls, who seemed to be having fun. We were told that the staff will escort DD to and from CCA in school and also supervise her homework/revision. We quite liked the vibe (nice and homey environment), so we registered our DD since they had a vacancy.

      Thanks again! šŸ˜„

      Hi,

We attended the orientation this morning and came away impressed with MCS' focus on being an all-rounded school and their emphasis on character development and morals. The girls on duty were very polite and kind to us newbie parents, showing us the way to the hall, directing us to the seats and taking DD to her class. All in all, a very good first experience with the school. We are very happy to have chosen MCS for our DD.

Just wondering if there are any parents who are using the before-and-after school care service (Good Shepherd Student Care) in the MCS compound? We are considering putting DD there when she starts P1 next year, and would really appreciate any feedback. TIA! :please:

Studious Alien - thanks for the tip re:keeping the ribbon safe. Will bear that in mind!

      Hi Hkkiasu

Yes, yes! Let's find a way to meet up during the orientation. We should set up a support group for 2013 P1's mommies. For starters, I heard some experienced mommies said exchanging mobile nos is important as they may come home with a wide variation of instructions/notes from teachers during their first few weeks. So mommies call one another up to verify/consult etc. So I think we definitely need to support one another, even in the long run. I hope to make new friends with all of you too! šŸ™‚
      ..

Please do not leave out the daddies too 😢

Agree maybe we can start a mailer-list for school networking purposes.

Yes, it would be great to get to know all you MCS mummies and daddies šŸ˜„ My friend who has 2 kids in primary school said the same thing about her kids coming home with incomplete instructions...so it's definitely a good idea to set up a support group for 2013 P1 parents. Hope to meet you all during the orientation. šŸ˜‰

      Hi ohdaddy,

Thanks very much for your note. Good to hear that MCS has bible classes to complement the catechism classes in church. Hopefully she will enjoy MCS' bible classes as much as your DD.

      Hi happymom2,

In MCS, catechism is held on wed. My DD is attending it even though we r not catholics. It is optional & held b4 sch time. Thus for those who wish to attend, ey will have to reach sch earlier on every wed & bring e bible along. So far, my DD is enjoying e lessons so we juz let her continue. šŸ˜„

Sounds good! It must be an interesting class if your DD likes it. Thanks, cantbearit2, for sharing the info. The thing that strikes me after reading many of the parents' comments here, is that MCS has many happy kids šŸ˜„
