    • RE: Schools selection... how to select?

      SG_KP1\" post_id=\"2049542\" time=\"1638153991\" user_id=\"188234:

Roughly speaking NUSH should be 170-180, RI/HCI ~400 each (possibly slightly lower).

NJC others have recently commented 200 or 250 (assume it is right but really no idea).

ACS(I) if you are talking the IP(IB) programme my guess would be 120-150 (if someone knows, please correct but I am guessing 4-5 classes of 30 each). ACS(I) also has the O level intake but you will need to make some estimate of the seats available for non-affiliated.
      Thank you SG_KP1.
According to ACS(I) website, \"The school has an enrolment of 2,800 students comprising Years 1 to 6\". So roughly 400 in S1, I guess. Not sure if this 400 includes both IP and O level.

Any idea what is the S1 cohort size in NUS High, RI, HCI, ACS(I) and NJC? is it ~400?

Based on the general opinion, ESIS cut-off (AL5) is ~ 3% of cohort, and offer of 3rd language French/Japanese/German cut-off (AL8) is ~ 10% of cohort.
      Cohort size in 2021 is 39,119. So \"guestimate\" (unsubstantiated) is ~ 1170 AL4+AL5, ~ 3910 AL4 to AL8.
No information on cumulative number of students who score AL4 to AL7.
      Thank you JGMum.

AL7 should be good enough to do IP.

For the 1st to 4th choice, maybe can try HCI (provided your son scores Dist or Merit for HCL), else, ACS(I), Catholic High IP, VS, NJC, RVHS, TJC, DHS depending on where you stay. RI’s COP likely to be AL6.

For 5th choice, pick one with COP at AL9 followed by 6th choice AL10.

AL7 is very good, I don’t think he will end up in O level unless you pick O level schools

Thank you. Then will forget RI as it is AL6.

RI AL6 COP is NOT the actual COP for this year’s P6 cohort. It is just a simulated one using last year’s cohort results.

If everyone with AL6 and AL7 do not wish to take risk and choose HCI, then HCI COP may rise to AL6 and RI’s may drop to AL7. So perhaps the easiest way is to put your child’s dream school as 1st choice. As long as for the 5th and 6th choice you have a good safety net in place, it should be quite safe.[/quote]Thanks lee_yl. you are right. since this is the first year, not sure what will be the actual COP for RI as it might fluctuate. anyways, will analyse/think and decide between RI or ACS as the 1st choice.

NJC or ACSI (pick either one for first choice). May or may not get in (depending on balloting).

Your 2nd choice school should be one he really likes & happy to go to (if allocated): VS or SJI or TJC.

The 3rd choice onwards would be O level schools that he likes.
Thank you zac's mum. so can try ACS(I) as 1st choice, and NJC as 2nd choice and SJI as 3rd choice? followed by VS?
