    • RE: Any Updates As To When PSLE T-Scores Will Be Scrapped?

With the Singaporean mindset, change will take a horribly long time. Also, it cannot be denied that some children out there still prefer academia over other more "holistic" aspects of life, think lawyers, doctors, scientists. The banding must not be too general as well, and even for more "holistic" items, there has to be a reinforcement of banding in these areas too such that they can identify which secondary schools suit them better.

      Looking forward to more updates.

    • RE: All About GEP

Thank you for the informative thread. I believe GEP streaming is good because it helps to seethe out the cream of the crop and nuture them in a good, conducive environment. There’s a lot of talk about how all school is a good school but truly, we still need programmes like this to separate out the children into their learning speed, intelligence levels. It will be for the good of all, especially because targeted programmes can be further put in place.

    • RE: 2016 JCs COP and posting results

      KidCat:
      Hi,

Do all JCs provide the same subject combination or it differs from JC to JC?

Is Physics a must to take in order for one to qualify for all engineering-related courses?

      TIA.
Some JCs are more flexible, like NYJC, they allow you to choose your own combis, but at the expense of getting a bad timetable, like lessons can be: 8AM-12PM, then one last lesson at 4PM. Other schools have fixed combis.

Don't worry about Physics because unis have bridging courses. Bio students have historically, and still can today, surpass other classmates with Physics background in uni. πŸ™‚ All boils down to hard work.

      :?

do use some discretion in your choice of words.

This forum is all for sharing, but at the comfort level of each member. Each member has her/ his own threshold.
I think I posted a clarification post above πŸ™‚ I think I am rather nice throughout, but I instead invited two refutes. Threshold or sheer hostility/defensiveness towards a new member, I don't know. Best part is someone unrelated jump in, ask me mince my words.

A bit disappointed, but it's okay, I think I did what I can. Good to see the likes of parents in Singapore from my early posts. πŸ™‚

    • RE: Which laptop for JC use

Want to add, nowadays a lot of those tablet can also convert to PC by adding a keyboard, I think also not bad. DD used a macbook, just need to run Word, Powerpoint, battery life also quite important, lightweight. Macbook got keynote, do presentations look better also. πŸ™‚ Yes, for PW, heavy PC usage, so consider buying some anti-glare accessories too.

      Augmum:

Hi, maybe u are new here...
Forummers who know me long enough...know that i am NOT a selfish person in sharing stuff in KSP for all these yrs...be it in academics or non academcis threads (such as food threads)...

I dont wish to talk abt my gal's early admission stuff as it's not convenient for me to reveal openly such pte info pertaining to my daughter ...taking the risk of exposing her identity...

In fact, i alrdy avoid using the word \" Early Admission\" at the beginning of my post when i was asking Jtoh a geniune question abt the NUS's mail which i did not receive...
But then... i was faced with question after question... pertaining to the Early admission which i alrdy tried to explain it...
Oh yes if you see my post count, I'm new! Did not expect a harsh reply, but okay, point noted. Thanks for clarifying so defensively. Each year, a relatively large number accepted for early admissions with conditional offers so I hope this will alleviate your privacy concerns - your daughter is NOT identifiable any old how.

Nonetheless, sincere congrats to your DD cuz she must have done well for her prelim exams, so that is very good and I am sure you are a proud mother because JC years are hard πŸ™‚ I do not think I am being offensive so I didn't expect such a harsh reply; don't want to fight here online also because really, no point.

I'm just curious if anyone is willing to shed some light on early admissions process, like:

      1. is there a (lowered) criteria for actual A level results,
      2. any interviews,
      3. essay questions.

Early admission, like this phrase or not, is a privilege. Cuz admissions is always tough la, all that paperwork, somemore still during study time. To share is also good, so I hope you can, but if you cannot, I also respect that, because afterall, some people will see each other as competition. Editing because I seem to get hostile replies all over just over a small message, I think I am very disappointed by the users on this website, people who ask me the mince my words when I'm not the one who acted elusive in the first place.

Peace and have a good monday night.

pardon me for asking again :imsorry:
so will NTU send us a letter containing the pin or not? πŸ˜“
      once again, :thankyou:

Looks like no one is answering your question because no one has the answer. But since the results will be out this Fri n since no one received any letter from NTU, probably there isn't any letter unlike NUS.

Why don't you call NTU to confirm?

NTU did not send out any letters, but rather a promotional leaflet for their open house, which is 5 Mar, day after results release.

      ParkYuni:

I would like to be present but need not be seen with DD.
I would be interested to find out about my DD JC's overall performance such as the average UAS, the % of pupils obtaining the various distinctions, etc to satisfy my curiosity.
If I am nt wrong, most if not all JC don't ask students to wear uniform on that day. So cn just walk in, maybe DD/DS go out with frens b4 results release and they head to sch tgt, then you can make your way down separately. Other level students will go check out the release too to get a \"feel\". Need not be with DD/DS. πŸ™‚
