As far as I’m concerned, HM is a lousy text, not focussed so to speak! I don’t think subject teacher has a say in what books to use each year, it boils down to the Management just like any organisation. Think we should take this up with the Management of MBS and they are even thinking of rolling to P3 next year or already rolled. (I’m not too sure)

Is sheer rubbish that it is a new method/way of teaching English!

By looking at my ss’s worksheets, it is very simple and useless. My cousin who is also a tr told me not many schools are using HM (Haunt Me). She mentioned that it is very activity based and the children is supposed to be learning through play. Come on lah, our kids are sitting for PSLE right which they will be tested on grammar, comprehension etc and not play!

Dear CNS, HM is Houghton Mifflin (author), MBS using text for English Language whereas most other schs are using the generic My Pals etc.

OMG! Do you find the HM worksheets too simple?

7788, thanks for the reply but I think not premature to discuss. Maybe I shouldn't say Eng prog which is too far feyched. I meant the book HM! Since last year they used HM and this year again. The worksheets too simple though they do have grammar items but all incident learning. Not like some mission schools that I know, drill and drill type so that children can remember. :?

Thanks Chasingjelly, so confirmed she can’t handle 2 subjects in a day. As you understand, kids are afterall kids, is always better to verify facts with another parent.

Just to clarify.I've nothing against the FT of 2B personally and i don't need her to be fierce but she has to do her due diligence. This is my concern. I thot send my boy to MBS, good good sch but end up like that!

Aiyo, how can she tell you to get external help? :?: I would have told her off if she said that to me!!!!! I was dead worried last yr with the last min (term 4) then they had writing I don't know how true is that? My son said sometimes whole day they did English and no maths? You have any idea of this? I wonder how the other parents feel besides us?

Ya, the sch also very strange, 3 pics writing for P1 hor. Btw, how you find the English prog? Welcome comments from other parents as well. I don't like them doing phonics and phonics again. My boy did phonics in K1 and and K2, don't you think they should focus on grammar etc now? Think must find out abt what other schs are doing 4 English.
