• RE: Comparing Science Enrichment Programs

I think TLL Science enrichment is good if your kid has a strong foundation in the subject, and is looking to explore things outside of syllabus that will be tested. However, if your kid is looking at building foundation or weak in the subject, it may not be the best use of money (it is quite expensive at least for my budget). Thus, I chose to go with a 1-1 tutor that can help my kid in the subject, and focus on the important things (build foundation+ interest, and to score in the subject).

Quite glad that taking the path of 1-1 science tutor worked out for me quite well and really happy with my science tutor, so @ping29 you will need to consider what is the best for your kid!

p/s: @6amson and anyone out there interested in my kid's current science tutor can DM me.

My girl is in P5 and not doing well for Science. I am looking for a good Sci tutor either 1 - 1 or enrichment. Any good recommendation?
Will recommend my current science tutor Frankie, who was former teacher turned full-time tutor. Was able to help my kid with understanding the different science concept, and also taught exam answering techniques for open ended questions. If you want to find out more can contact him at 8139 3075.

There are many tuition centers or tutors out there who have different ways of teaching or helping your kids. I think in the end, it really depends on the environment your kid is suited for. Question to ask will be whether your kid is able to do well in a group environment, or requires individual attention. In my case, i have tried both and find that my kid gets less distracted in a 1-1 setting. Thus, the next thing for me to consider is the profile of tutor that I want for my kid. This will be tougher and need to try it out sometimes, and also to understand the tutor's strength or teaching technique. Personally i prefer full - time tutor who I find generally are more dedicated and less disruptive in changing or adjusting the tuition time for my kid. I hope this simple process will help you in finding your tutor as that is what I did for my current science tutor for my kid.
Full time tutor is definitely better than a part timer. Some children get really stressed when it’s 1-1... so group would be better. Also depends on how close you are to the exams. The closer, the more attention the better.
Yeap, do agree some children get really stressed in 1 to 1 setting. However, again it depends on the child as for some they may end up focusing more when just with the teacher/tutor rather than other students in the class who may distract them, and also the teacher/tutor will have his/her attention divided among so many students in group.
