hi all, my son is currently enrolled in Newton Montessori (he has been there since Jan 2012) and we do like it there, unfortunately they have increased their prices once in 2012 and will be increasining it again in 2013 (we have been informed)
I chose that school rather arbitrary as we just moved back to Snagpore in Dec 2011. i find the fees too rich for my blood and need some advice.
Where else can I go within the Newton/ Novena area? Ideally its somewhere with a 4hr program. As we only informed of the next increase in Nov, i have obviously missed the registration for any church/ registration date based school.
Does any one have an opinion about :
Little woods (gentle road)
Halifax ( bit out of the way for me but i’ll figure it out)
JHS - Valley point?
any others?
TIA.

RE: Moving Home with a 2yr old
thanks everyone for the info, its a good start. i’ must admit its overwhelming the choices we have in singapore. which is a good thing i guess!
I have found this forum extremely interesting; parents are so passionate about education and its inspiring.
I will start contacting all the schools below in Nov and keep everyone updated.
lastly, I"m a full time SAHM, does that mean I don’t qualify for any subsidies?
thats another confusing one! -
Moving Home with a 2yr old
hi we’ve left sg for 9 yrs now and during that time i’ve become a mum to a 2yr old and the singapore i know is completely different.
I know nothing about schools/ childcare in Sg and need some advice. We are looking for an accompanied playgroup (mother & child) that my son can attend next yr till he is 3. (2013)
i think we will live near River Valley or Holland as thats near family.
what is ideal :
outdoor play area
montessori program ( as close to the real thing as possible)
mandarin only is fine
I don’t really care about the ABCs, Maths and homework as I’m a SAHM and think there’s still time for him to be a child.
really appreciate feedback as we move home right after xmas and I found out only on Monday!
