Can parents here share their orientation day experience with us that have daughters attending P1 in 2013?
The letter which we received did not say much, other than reporting to school by 8:30am. Are there a series of events scheduled (i.e. tour of school ground, speech by the principal, meet and greet P1 teachers and etc).
Also, are we expected to purchase uniforms and books on the day of orientation?
Sorry for all the questions, but this will help me and some of the new parents to determine what to expect and what time to arrive at the school on the day of orientation.
Thanks!
emmanuel:Hi Emmanuel,Hi Hkkiasu
Yes, yes! Let's find a way to meet up during the orientation. We should set up a support group for 2013 P1's mommies. For starters, I heard some experienced mommies said exchanging mobile nos is important as they may come home with a wide variation of instructions/notes from teachers during their first few weeks. So mommies call one another up to verify/consult etc. So I think we definitely need to support one another, even in the long run. I hope to make new friends with all of you too!![]()
Hi Hoylj, sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks for the info. Will see how she manages too. She still loves to learn her ballet (which I had stopped some reasons) and thought of continuing her after we have ascertained her P1 status etc. So shall see...
Finally received the confirmation letter for my daughterโs P1 registration next year. Looking forward to the orientation day in Nov.
Itโll be nice to meet all the parents in this forum on orientation day, and it will also give our daughters a chance to meet new friends / classmates.
Does any parents know what time are the CCA for P1, specifically in Art, Dancing or Netball.
Thanks.
Just found out all applicants for Phase2C were accepted for 2013 P1. Looking forward in meeting the parents and my daughter starting P1 at MCS!
hoylj:Thanks to both hoylj and Ohdaddy! We just want our child to have a holistic education and fun learning environment rather than just focusing on academics. Always knew, focusing 100% on academic is NOT the best way to educate a child. A child does need exposure in all aspects and build the necessary foundation to move on and adapt to todays' complex society.Oh I can't agree more with Ohdaddy. Initially we tried registering our dd for SCGS given that it is within walking distance. It happened that for that year, we were booted out during the inaugrual balloting for Phase 2C as there were many PRs who lived within 1km of the school then. Our hearts dropped when we heard that our dd was not selected. We then went straight to Marymount to register her in Phase 2C supplementary. With no regrets. Dd is now thriving very well, better than some SCGS girls of her age. MCS has lived up to its name to groom girls to become ladies of grace. So, do not think that only pupils of elite schools can excel. We should groom our daughters not just academically but holistically be a all rounder. MCS is one such good schools.
I can't think of more reasons why the intake is low for MCS other than there's no affiliation to secondary schools and of course there aren't many young families within 1km of school compound. I may be wrong here. But just look at Braderell Heights and you will know what I mean.
Hope the above is useful. Always believe that your dd can do well and the school is just there to facilitate the learning journey.
Hi,
Can any parents with children attending BTPS share as to why there are so many vacancies in comparison to the other schools in BT Phase 2C?
One of the parents shared that the school was quite "cosmopolitan". Can anyone share what is the mix of nationalities?
We are thinking of enrolling my daughter to BTPS, and would like to understand a bit more about it.
Thanks.
Hi,
I wanted to find out more about MCS in terms of academic, racial distribution (Chinese, Indians, Malaysians) and why the low in take. We are hoping to get our daughter in to RGPS as our first choice (since we live within 1km) but if that is unsuccessful we would like to consider MCS.
Can someone explain why there are still quite a good number of intakes for P2C?
Thanks.
