lostbunny, if you do regular laundry and ironing, then 3 sets of uniform and 2 sets of PE will be enough. However, if you only do laundry/ironing once a week then 3 sets of uniform will not be sufficient. PE attire is only worn during PE lesson, they will change into PE attire before PE lesson, after that, have to change back to uniform for other lessons.

Is DHS the only place where I can buy the school uniform or can I go to the vendor directly? Anyway, what defines colourful sports shoes?
You can buy school uniform from Shanghai school uniform located at Bras Basah Complex. I prefer to get uniforms from here as there is 2 fiiting rooms for the child to try on.

Hello! Im a y3 going to y4 student currently studying in Dunman High and I was wondering if there are any minimum GPA qualifications one needs to get in order to study economics? As I heard only those who get above GPA 3.6 can study H2 Econs. Any seniors who knows do help out! ><

As far as I know, there is no minimum GPA required to take H2 economics in SH. This year, a minimum GPA of 3.4 is required for the eligibility of taking 4H2. For those who did not meet 3.4, they can also take econ as H2. -

Not very sure of how they do the posting. But throughout the BMT, the recruits are interviewed/counciled several times, during these session, my son was asked where he preferred or does he mind going to certain unit. My son did indicate that he wonld not like to go to certain unit. So in the end he never go there.
Thanks for sharing, hmmum!
Congrats on your ds' POP!!
So the next step would be getting his posting?
Any idea how the camp posting is assigned? (Other than the NDU, OCS, etc) Is it according to some aptitude test / appraisal, home address proximity, or just anyhow random?
As for the requirement for IPPT, I am not sure of the requirment for each individual test. But for his platoon/section (am also not sure, it ever happened at least once), those who get A/B will book out earlier while those who failed or C will book out late.
For the stinky/sweaty smell uniform, nowadays, the Febreze is very handy and useful.
Yes, the \"snake powder\" also a must. -
Does your boy know of anyone who could not dry their uniform on time?
Can always buy extra sets of uniforms, you know?
I thought given x number of sets only.
Yes, can buy extra sets of uniform/shirts/shocks etc. There some section mates never do washing, and brought back all the solied clothes. But the bag will be very heavy, and looks like going to explode (comments from my boy)
We did not buy any extra sets. Just take whatever number was issued. And is enough to last him till now

RE: Let's Talk about National Service
As my boy always try to "recycle" or reused the T-shirt or uniforms during the week. That is to say when the washed uniform or attires are dry, he will wear again during the week. this way, the things that ge brought back home to wash is not alot. He never bring 5 uniforms back before. At most only 3 uniforms, but rarely as the uniforms dry out fast, and there is no raining. So he usually brought home 2 sets of uniforms with some 2 set of T-shirts and shorts, 5 under garments, 3-4 pairs of shocks and a towel. During the field camp, there wont be any washing carried out, so he brought back 4 dirty smelly uniform plus some T-shirts and shorts and others. that time we spread out the washing over two days as his book out time is longer, so more time for drying.

RE: Let's Talk about National Service
I dont know whether can use disposable underwear. He is the first member in our family go through NS, so I had no one to consult except info from friends and colleagues who went through donkeys years ago. I just base on the requirement/instruction that the SAF gave before his enlistment. So he bought the normal under garments (6 pieces).

RE: Let's Talk about National Service
Mine is 8kg. Just need two rounds, maximum. For mine, one cycle is around 1hr. As he had manual soaked, scrub a little bit and rinse before dumping into the machine. We donβt need the machine to run for too long.
I avoid washing bedsheet, floor mate all the big items on friday. So that can clear all the bamboos to hang his army clothes. Saturday, will try to wash laundries in the late afternoon, so that some of the thinner T-shirts/shorts are dried and and keep. But nowadays, the uniform are quite thin too, they dry up quite fast. -
RE: Let's Talk about National Service
Yes, wash during shower time. No time for scrubing. Just used hand to roughly rub , rinse and hang. I want his to wash his under garment more thoroughly, others, just close one eye

RE: Let's Talk about National Service
For us, no ironing and polishing is required
He will soaked and scrubed the uniformed himself and washed using washing machine himself on the booked out date. I will try to cleared all my laundries by friday afternoon. So friday night is to hang all his army barangs.
Hang for two days sure dry. Only after the field camp, he was exhausted, so I help him to washed those smelly dirty uniforms. I cant remember I had used how many buckets of water to rinse, soaked and scrub those dirty clothes before I dump them into my washing machine. Thee water are so dark :yikes:
