Ninjago:Yes how ironic. \"To build up foundation that is lacking\" after 2 years of enrichment classes with berries..Some personal opinions...
At preschool levels, a lot of word recognition are taught in berries. Some kids take it well but not others. When kids are not able to remember well, they need regular recap, more than once a week in-class lessons. I remember preparing my child for weekly 1-to-1 reading before new lessons starts. Even with preparation, they may not remember every word too but some words are repeated in the following weeks.
If the teachers assessed that a child is too weak to follow up the same class, it might be better to join a class of similar abilities rather than to hang onto a time slot of higher abilities classmates and feeling inferior as he/she may not understand what others already do. Not so much for streaming but more to build up the foundation that is lacking.
For primary school berries classes, being an enrichment and not tuition centre, there is lesser fun play and more serious in-class writing, oral/listening compre/show & tell coaching.

RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
Berries is a let down. Have been sending my daughter for classes there for the past 2 years & at the end of K2 this year, they kicked her out of her usual class timeslot as they said that her mandarin is not good enough to progress to their higher chinese P1 classes (which imho is ridiculous to stream kids at such a young age) They also expect parents to constantly revise the lessons with our children. If I could teach my kids myself, I would not have needed to send them for enrichment classes. 2 years of $$ & time invested in berries, to be told her chinese standard is not good enough. Isn’t it testament of their teaching then?
