Moral_principles:
Religion and secular laws aside first. Let's find out if unwed, single mum is entitled to maternity benefits? If yes, then the Government is encouraging childbirth out of wedlock!

the government may not be right all the time, the Church might be wrong sometimes, but what is definitely wrong in my view is the promotion of gay marriage and gay adoption!

Adopted Boy Sexually Abused By Gay Fathers

      http://www.lifesitenews.com/images/sized/images/news/Screen_Shot_2013-07-04_at_3.02.30_PM-629x441.png\">

Police in Australia have described the case of a six-year-old boy who was sexually abused by his adoptive gay fathers and other people as \"depraved\".

The men, who obtained the baby from a Russian surrogate in 2005, had presented themselves as loving fathers before their arrests in California last year.

Authorities in Australia and the US worked together to bring the men to justice after it emerged that the child had been offered to others for sexual exploitation from a very young age.

Last week one of the men, an American, was jailed in the US for 40 years while the other, who is from New Zealand, is still to be sentenced.

\"None of these cases are very good,\" Queensland Detective Inspector Jon Rouse, who heads the task force which investigates online child exploitation and abuse, told the AFP news agency.

\"What's pretty sad about this one is the way this child came into their lives. It's just really a tragedy. It's extremely depraved.\"

It is not known whether the boy was conceived with one of the men's sperm. But he had been living as the couple's son when a chance discovery in New Zealand put police on their trail.

Authorities investigating a child sex offender in Wellington found images of the boy on the man's computer.

The images were not illegal, but raised a red flag with Australian police who saw them as \"modelling shots\". Further investigations unearthed chat logs between the couple and other child sex offenders.

When police raided the couple's home while they were in the United States, they found enough material on laptops and other devices to ensure their arrest and the boy's removal from their care.

DI Rouse said police were determined to ensure that all offenders were tracked down.

\"We are talking about a fairly extensive network of child sex offenders,\" he said.

Australia police investigate surrogate boy abused by dads

SYDNEY--Australian police Wednesday described as “depraved” the case of a 6-year-old boy obtained by his gay male parents via a surrogate mother and then sexually abused by them and others.

Authorities in Australia and the United States worked together to bring to justice the men, who had lived in the north Queensland city of Cairns and presented themselves as loving fathers.

But the baby boy they obtained from a Russian surrogate in 2005 and formally adopted had been offered to others for sexual exploitation from a very young age.

Both men were arrested in California in early 2012 and charged. Last weekend one was jailed in the United States for 40 years while the other is awaiting sentencing.

“None of these cases are very good,” Queensland Detective Inspector Jon Rouse, who heads the task force which investigates online child exploitation and abuse, told AFP.

“What's pretty sad about this one is the way this child came into their lives. It's just really a tragedy. It's extremely depraved.”

It is not known whether the boy was conceived with one of the men's sperm. But he had been living as the couple's son when a chance discovery in New Zealand put police on their track.

Authorities investigating a child sex offender in Wellington had found images of the boy on the man's computer.

The images were not illegal but they raised red flags with Australian police who saw them as “modeling shots.” Further investigations unearthed chat logs between the couple and other child sex offenders.

When police raided the couples' home while they were in the United States, they found enough material on laptops and other devices to ensure their arrest and the boy's removal from their care.

Rouse said police were determined to ensure that all offenders were tracked down.

“We are talking about a fairly extensive network of child sex offenders,” he said.

Speaking to the ABC late Tuesday, he said: “With this network just be rest assured that we will pursue them to the ends of the Earth to make sure each and every one of them faces justice for what their role has been in crimes against this child.”

      dear friends ,

i just seen this and i just want to rant!!!

y SDP gay politician who attended gay pink dot have to resort using an impressionable 12 year old boy for his political message???????

I find it unacceptable in every level!!!!!
Dear friends,
I’m sorry I haven’t been able to thank you all personally for the messages of support and encouragement on Facebook following my tongue in cheek status update on Friday. The coming out part wasn’t tongue in cheek but the reference to Fabrications About The PAP was; I hope they won’t be too irritated with me 🙂

In truth, I wasn’t intending to ‘come out’. I merely wanted to encourage every LGBT person in Singapore to attend Pink Dot and therefore I had to say why it means so much to me.

So, thank you for your vote of confidence. I have two things I’d like to leave you with: Coming out is not the toughest bit. Well, eventually it becomes easier and easier as more and more people do. The harder thing is to begin and sustain the long and dedicated work that society needs to overcome the oppression that LGBT people experience everyday. And second, the community we are building up through events and organisations are the lifeblood of the work to eventually erase a horrible thought from history, that people, young and old, kill themselves to escape homophobia.

So, I would like to pay tribute to People Like Us, the first LGBT organisation founded more than 20 years ago that the Registrar of Societies continues to refuse to register. I would also like to thank all the current organisations that perform sterling work with LGBT people like Oogachaga, Pelangi Pride Centre, Fridae.com, Indignation, Purple Alliance, Sayoni, Transgender Alliance, Young OUT Here, and others whose names escape me now. And also the organisers of Pink Dot which has done much to put the issue front and centre.

I would also like to honour Alex Au, whose blog, Yawning Bread, has been a key source of information on gay and wider socio-political issues; M Ravi and his team who have worked so hard on the Section 377a constitutional challenge; and Gary and Kenneth and their supporters who are taking the work on the legal front forward.

At Pink Dot, I had the opportunity to meet Theo Chen, an exceptionally talented and engaging 12-year old boy who made a YouTube film to highlight bullying in schools including homophobic bullying. The film has gone viral as it should. You can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8Vhu_EXa4A.

Theo and all our children are our future. Our work is far from done. But it is nowhere near the starting line. For that, to all those who make dignity and hope their daily work, I would like to offer a humble thank you.

One final thing: A coalition of organisations is carrying out a National LGBT Census to collect data on the LGBT community in Singapore. Its objective is to “understand the current health, housing, family, employment and schooling conditions and needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community in Singapore.” This is an absolutely crucial piece of work because with the data, LGBT organisations can map the demographics and needs of the community; plan their services; advocate to government; channel funds to where they are needed, and target interventions at the most vulnerable. As a social worker, a policy analyst and a politician, I know how important data is to any societal progress. Please take the time to complete the survey. It takes about 20 mins. Go to: http://www.sogiresearch.blogspot.sg/. If you do one thing this year in support of LGBT rights, do this.

      Yours in friendship,
      Vincent
http://www.facebook.com/vwijeysingha/posts/10151781869092474

I dun agree with what the PAP did. It is obvious they were trying to block off the opposition parties.

but having said that, i also dun agree wif Alex Au. Friends told mi Alex Au remarked that Christians in Singapore is no difference from the Ku Klux Klan…
