West spring students are generally well behaved and not rowdy. Used to encounter them on buses as I used to live nearby. Thru those years, hasn’t encounter rowdy students. Not sure about Bt Batok Secondary.

RE: Secondary Schools Information in West Area
My boy got 198, making him eligible for either exp or NA. As the subject of this thread mentioned which is better for him? We stayed in Hillview area.
Express, choices of school is limited, we shortlisted some:-
1. Westwood (cop 198)
2. Regent (cop 191)
3. Jurongville (cop 195)
4. Duneran
5. New Town
6. Can’t decide on no. 6
There is 2 extreme groups of advice we had. One being to go for exp in a not so good school. Eventually, till the end of sec 4, everyone will start studying for ‘O’ level, saving a year with higher chance of getting into JC thru exp. The ego of the boy, being in express made them feel better, the stigma of being a NA student, even some school teachers feel this way too.
My utmost concern being how good are the shortlisted (express)school and how well the students behave in general. Didn’t have the chance to see how they behave, unless you have been staying nearby. Anyone able to comment?
NA, 1 year more compare to express, school shortlisted:-
1. Bukit Panjang Govt High
2. Commonwealth
3. Swiss Cottage
4. Bukit Batok
My concern for being in NA, will the so call “good school” like BBGH treat them equally, putting in effort to teach and push them to their best potential?
Heard that in general, some teachers nowadays are not as passionate as before, all they do is minimum, just for the sake of salary, especially if they are to teach NA classes.
Anyone able to share some lights for BBGH NA, do the teacher care and bring out the potential of these students? Do they locate most of their resources to express class only?
Please help to comment, as the deadline for the submission is very near now. -

RE: Secondary Schools opinions
Hi just asking…
My child gt to choose between normal and express…can we mix the school choices of exp & normal in the list?
Hi, I had this enquiry too as my child fell under this category too. However, when I tried using the online registration site, it is either normal or express option. I was also thinking of making mix school choice of exp or NA. Quite clueless about this. -

RE: Beacon Primary
Hi Patntee
Good to know 1/1 parents here too.
My son told me math textbook instead of workbook.
He packed that into school bag last Friday, but was not collected by the teacher. Anyway, I will still place it in the bag for tomorrow. Maybe, it will be good to add in the math workbook as well.
Thank. -

Dear Parents
Thank you for your advice. I think I will need to consider a 2nd school, just in case he can’t get in Beacon. -
RE: Beacon Primary
Dear All
I very much wanted to register my son for Beacon under Phase 2C (staying within 1km) for next year Primary 1.
How high will be the chance of getting a place under this phase of registration?
If there is risk of not getting it, I will need to consider to register him under Phase 2A(2) at Pei Chun Primary School in Toa Payoh. However, I do have hesitation as it is very far from Bukit Panjang and he will need to spend alot of time on travelling.
Appreciate very much for your advice. Thank you. -
