From the video at 0:30s, NYJC principal said \"Our students who have gotten a mimimum of 3H2 distinctions with a pass in GP improved by 14%\". Nothing else is stated.
If 31% was last year's figure, then 35% will be the figure this year.

2014 cohort -min 3H2 distinctions - 31%
2014 COP - 7 sci/ 8 arts

2015 cohort - min 3H2 distinctions - 35%
2015 COP - 7 sci / 7 arts
(NYJC arts hybrid is a popular choice as unusual combi are possible)

I am sure the improvement in COP has helped brought about the improvement of the current results.

think the latest batch with COP 6/7 has not graduated yet, only started their JC1 from February 2017?

After much discussions here, genuine intetested people can decide for themselves what to believe n not believe in. So no disastrous as nobody forces one to opt Nyjc. There are other resources people can depend on to decide a JC other than reading in this Forum which has become questionable.
Its last year brief 2015 A level results being told here is true as I was in college on that day. The rest of the issues i dont know.

At first, I was impressed with this picture posted above. I thought it was the number of pupils who scored at least 3H2 distinctions for class of 2016 during the recent A level results release.

But when I visited the nyjc official website, the photo only comes with a congratulatory note to class of 2015/16. I roughly counted and estimated that there were more than 500 pupils or perhaps 700 of them when I enlarged the photo using my hp.

The scene was repeated in the video you shared. I believe it's the entire cohort of about 700 graduands as some boys were seen carrying their haversacks or slingbag with them. You may estimate the number using the 'row by column' method.

Crester, please comment if this is a group photo of the entire 2015/16 cohort or is this the photo of pupils who have outstanding results and were invited to the stage?

Note: Not that I want to 'stir trouble' or doubt nyjc's results as the intake is of good COP but the information posted here is sometimes misleading unless one scrutinizes....

YTSS is a band 1 , autonomous school. My son attends the school. All the sec 3 students have to do pure physics and chemistry together with A&E maths. the rest of the subjects are what the student chooses .It is a very good school and the teachers are very concerned over the children. I am glad my son is there.

according to MOE's resource until 2011, YTSS was in Band 5 for years and had never got in a band higher than 5. You may check from MOE website for the info.

2 points, together with CCA (maximum 2 points) and HMT (maximum 2 points), but the total bonus points shall not be more than 4 points.

well…you can opt for 4H2 subjects actually. as to econ, it is a new subject to all jc students.

I feel it's so sad that one with 8 raw, but with bonus of 4 (CCA+Affiliation) can enter VJ, but not one with a lower score of 7 raw, but only with bonus of 2.

you may try to appeal right now if you do wish to get into VJ. some top JCs may reserve a few places for those who don't have 2 bonus points for hmt.

Mamo, fyi, Chung Cheng Yishun is listed as a band 3 school in the 2012 S1 posting booklet. If you have the 2011 S1 posting booklet, it is listed as band 6 in there.


It can be something they are doing right that results in such a big improvement jump, or it can also be just pure lucky like spotting the right topic / questions (not trying to be skeptical but it is anyone's guess!).

Just want to highlight this fact as most parents may not have the 2011 S1 posting booklet and may not be aware of this \"big discrepancy\" - usually most school is within 1 band difference only. Thought it is something worth noting for those interested in the school.

Pen88n, fyi, Chung Cheng Yishun (formerly known as Chung Cheng Branch)was moved from its old site to Yishun in the mid of 2006. during the old days of Branch, its COP was around 220+only, but in the year of its new campus relocating to Yishun, its COP was suddenly increased around 10 points! CCH Yishun has attracted many 230+ students in the north area since then. if i remember correctly, the COP of its first batch at the new campus (year 2007 batch taking PSLE in Oct 2006) was 234. it was this first batch with the higher COP acthieving a Band 3 in Olevel 2010. i believe this was one reason of its improvement jump from Band 6 to Band 3, not just by luck. you have also noticed its trend in these years. i am so clear abt its history because i was also interested in this school 4 years ago.
