      Marib:
Yes, foreigners can buy cars there. For the road taxes I can't tell you, because whenever we bought cars like this, they still had taxes left. So I can suggest if you really want to go for this option, to buy a car with let's say few months paid road taxes. For the insurance, it depends on many things- drivers age, type of the car etc, etc. But I think there is special insurance that is made when you will exit the country. You can check uk forums on this and also I am sure when you buy the car the previous owner will help you with information.

I'm actually thinking more of a bike. Never know non-residents can get a vehicle. Its definitely much cheaper than shipping my own bike over.

Cheap is subjective. It is cheap only if compare to the past. Who knows what the future is, it maybe expensive compared to the future.

I backpack once by rail. Its pretty simple actually. Plus not as much planning required since rail timing is quite fixed.

Another time by car (but that’s consider luxury travelling :p)

The usual rule of travelling applies with regards to personal belongings and safety. Don’t do anything stupid. That said, Europe is one of the safest travelling location. I always tell my friends this :- If they can travel to Malaysia, don’t need to ask about safety when asking about Europe / USA / Australia / NZ etc etc

    • RE: ECON IN JC

Like someone mention earlier. Econs is actually a v. realistic subject. If you want to excel, need to read a lot of business / general affairs stuff.

Personally, I feel the "issue" with how to subject is taught is that it always start with microeconomics. This is actually the "boring" portion of econs. Once you try drag students through 6 months of this, most of time will switch off and have no idea how to study for econs thereafter. I think microeconomics is pure memory subject to start with. Until the students can start to see real life examples, they will have no choice but to memorize the concepts.
