Hi everyone!

Just came across this forum and found it very interesting to read. I'm an ex-Dunmanian who graduated last year and I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in DHS.

Should any of you parents have any questions regarding dhs/ junior high/ senior high/ a-levels or anything else I'll try my best to answer šŸ™‚ and give a student's perspective of course.

Hi, need help to advise for MEP other then YR1 can student apply in Yr2 ? How to go about it? TIA

Hi, I don't think you can join MEP in yr2. It's a special programme which starts in yr 1 and if you sign the contract in yr 1 you have to follow through all the way and to o-levels. So it also means you cannot drop it. You should double check with the MEP teachers though, since I am not particularly familiar with the programme. I'm not sure if exceptions can be made but I think it is highly unlikely.
Hi Gearhat, Thanks for your response and also your generous sharing in this threat.

Hope you will drop by frequently to share and give some advise. :please:
So in fact GEP is a better education which we should aim to give to more kids or even all kids and not scrap it.

There is a reason why gep is a pullout program. Already numerous people are complaining abt coping with the current primary sch coursework. Do we want to accelerate ALL kids? Obviously, some are suited for gep while most are not. PL don't view a child as being deprived if he isn't in gep. Those in the mainstream has the same opportunities in other moe-run programs and competitions eg primary math masterclass, debate competitions and science quizzes. All who can prove his potential n innate talent will not be deprived.

I dun have any kid in GEP but I do support the programme. Reason is simple ..... there ARE really really kids who are a lot more advanced and gifted (and I mean the real genuine ones...not those drilled/prepared). I know of 2 GEP kids and seriously, the syllabus/work they do.....challenging but interesting. It really stretches them. Even tho my 2 kids considered high-ability, I must tell you....they are nowhere near. šŸ˜“ While previously I had hoped my kids would get in GEP, I'm now glad.....really really glad my kids didn't. I dun think my kids and myself can cope. So seriously, offering to ALL students will kill cos' most schools have pupils with varying abilities, even mainstream work can be challenging to some. While we call for more resources to help the bulk esp. the poorer ones, let's not take away from the GEP group as it will help them too.
You are so understanding :hugs:

last year some one said $8 can do a bypass surgery

this year $1k can buy HDB

      :faint: .......

He said he paid $8. Not that unbelievable.

My dad paid less then $30 for his triple bypass. He had his choice of surgeons and stayed in an A class ward.

Just buy a $500/mth premium insurance scheme with hospitalisation plan..

The surgery can even be FOC..

Can peasants afford or willing to pay for that kind of premium hospitalisation plans? If you're not sick or require medical treatment, the money is down the drain.

If no insurance related plan.. the $8 is a joke.. really..
Nope, not insurance.

And there are more people I know who have that kind of benefits.
Those under pension...yes possible...but these ppl should be about 70 plus by now...they still can get :moneyflies: :moneyflies: monthly....for our generation not possible lah
