Hi nonKiasu. My son is in Blk 140 Tampines West Education Centre. He has been there since he was in Nursery. So far,I find this centre is quite good compare to the other centres in my area. For K1 and K2 ,the centre offers aside from the computer classes, they have Chinese and English speech and drama classes. But this is optional. But I took both for my son.For the chinese speech and drama, the teacher is from China.Every term, parents are invited to watch and listen to their child performs. Then the teacher will give feedbacks to the parents. His mandarin is clear and not the way other china people speaks. The teacher is Kata lao shi.For the english speech and drama, parents were invited only once. The same also, children perform then teacher gives feedback.I ask my son he said ,it is fun in his english speech and drama class with Teacher Michelle.Every Thursday,my son will bring back home a folder.Inside, there will be a story book for him to read during the weekend, a chinese homework to write ( in phrase),a small blue book which contains the sight words they learn every week. They will be ask to make sentences from the sight words. When he was in K1, the homework during weekends will be a storybook to read, chinese homework writing the strokes and english homework will be phonics.Ex. the sound “ea”. They have to write words having the “ea” sound. K2,They have ting xie.It only started last July.It is every other week. The words are taken from their homework. For english spelling,It is every wednesday for my son.About 5 words.the words will come from what sound they learn for that week.ex.“er” spelling words will be slipper, sister, never.“ai” spelling words will be like painter, train, aim. Spelling words started only this july. For K1 they dont have ting xi and spelling words. So far,I am satisfied. How is it in Blk 887?

RE: [Tampines] Primary Schools
It seems like both schools goes balloting on the Phase 2c.I think my chances of getting in to Chongzheng is greater than going to Gongshang.
Anyway, thanks. -
RE: [Tampines] Primary Schools
